hey guys.. as the title suggests, was just wondering if anyone runs or has run the giac ko4 p-16 file without an intercooler upgrade and if so how it went? Also, what psi does it peak at?

Naturally when you upgrade your intercooler, you will see 1-2 psi drop but have a more efficient running car. Now with that said, you will peak at the designed psi for the k04 file. Most ppl see anywhere from 24 spike to 18. Every car is different, even with the same file. I would highly recommend atleast upgrading your SMIC.

24psi? Really? That seems pretty high.

yeh 24 does seem high. I have a lower set giac file on my a4 in aus that peaks at 17 (maybe 18 in winter). Just wondering if it would start pinging with the p-16 with factory smic. I'm assuming it's a yes, just wondering if anyones tried it w/o?

Read up. Many of the guys are seeing 18-19 on the giac k03 files but when upgraded to the k04 pc-16 file they were seeing 21-+ and holding 18. Like I said, every car is different, even with the same software. The SMIC should still be upgraded bc heat soak will be a problem during the summer months. Anything above ~21 will be blowing hot air, especially with a stock SMIC.

I ran the pc-16 with stock smic for 3 years in phoenix without any problems, except at the track where after about 20 minutes you could feel a noticeable power loss due to heat soak. Mine would peak at about 22 psi and hold around 19

thanks petera4! What injectors were you using? did you ever upgrade the IC (on the same turbo/tune)? ..and if so notice much difference?

I was running 310cc injectors with my fuel pressure around 3 bar, thats where it felt the best, never got around to upgrading the IC sold the car:(

I saw 21psi on mine with 310cc injectors and an adjustible fpr set to 2.7 (car ran excellent after I changed the fpr)

I have this setup with FMIC and have never seen it get anywhere near 24 psi. Maybe 20 which is fine, I don't know that I want that little PoS turbo pushing that much hot air.

the only time I saw 24+ psi was with my old unitronics tune for the k04, the only time it would go ABOVE 24 psi is when the waste gate kept getting stuck and it would spike to 30+psi...i used to spike 24 and hold 20 with the uni tune, but now im done with small snails ;)

word. i have seen 22. 24 would be close to needing rods

not with AEB's rods are pretty strong...mine saw 30psi quite a bit and they are in great shape still, and no damage done to the turbo

you will get heat soaked no matter what with the stock IC i recommend you get a racetec fmic, if the buyer of my k04 setup doesn't want it ill sell it to you...
