if you tell me what a flex plate is i can answer this question. ill assume is the metal plate thing that is between the motor and trans.
the auto and manual plates are not the same and the auto and manual cranks are not the same either.

yes you can swap cranks, or just grind down the snub that is hitting the TQ converter.

I think you can grind down a auto crank to fit the flywheel for the manual or so I have read with peoples auto to manual swap. Having said that you would then need to add metal to get an automatic flex plate to fit the manual crank. Did the mechanic working on your car say exactly what the problem was he was running up against?

See mine is automatic everything is automatic and the engine i bought is manual he said that the flexplate would not bolt up thats all he said but i think its because of the pilot bearing or so ive read that the manual engine has a big of a rounder back then the automatic

I believe it may have been done before. Do you have a picture of the back of the manual motor? I think that you might be able to fit it after shaving the crankshaft down, but get a pic!

this is true i just did this a few months ago. but you must use the flex plate that was on the car not the one that came with your motor.
