CEL, EPC, Traction Light on.. Please help!

Its raining in my city.. I have a B7 quattro automatic..I drove to work no problem.. When I turn on my car to go to lunch, the traction control light & the EPC lights are on.. I start driving, the car won't get out of 2nd and won't go into 3rd gear... So I use the tip-tronic to switch gears, now it won't get past 4th gear will stay at 40 mph...I get to my destination.. When I come back to turn on the car, my check engine light is on.. So now I have the EPC, Trac.Control, and CEL on.. WTF!!!! Any help would be appreciated.. I'm gonna go scan for codes see what comes up...

sounds like limp mode, could me a number of things. Give us some more symptoms...rough idle? Sputtering?

I'm no expert but coil packs? PCV?

without the codes we can't really help you since it could be alot of thing. such as steering angle sensor, brake switch, steering angle sensor control module...

I just got it scanned, came up with code P2138.. It said pedal sensor.. Anyone know where it's located?

TPS/TBS = Throttle Position Sensor/ Throttle Body Sensor. I'll try to find some more info.

I searched and came up with brake switch.. That the car thinks that I'm braking and pressing the gas pedal at the same mite.. Can any one confirm...

if u drop the panel right under ur feet at the pedals, youll find the brake switches in there, as u push in the brake it pushes this small switch, mess with that switch by pressing it in, turning it a little because i know my clutch switch which is very similar to brake switch, was stuck in a position to where it killed my cruise control and i just messed with it and it started working again. So just mess with the brake switch to see if its just stuck a little. Other than that I'm not really sure man, hope u get it sorted out quickly.

I turned on my car to go home, and the traction & EPC light are now off.. Didn't come back on.. Yes!! It's driving normal... Somewhat normal, It lags to switch into next gear.... But better than before.. Now it only has CEL.. I will check it again tomorrow.. Has anyone ever had this problem?

got epc and engine light on when first got the car. I gunned it from 0 - 100mph and it happened. Limp mode it home, let her rest little bit restarted car and everything was fine again. No other problems after that incident.

Had the same problem, was intermittent and the codes would disappear after a couple starts so the dealer couldn't diagnose. Next time it happened, drove straight to the dealer and they replaced the brake switch.. Problem solved.
