Whenever my car has warmed up and is fully idle, it usually idles around 8/900 rpm (just under 1k) and it idles rough, this is in gear and foot on the break.
If I put it in neutral, it isn't as bad, If i press the accelerator and push it past 1k it is perfect with no vibration.
I thought I read somewhere you could vag the ecu to change the idle speed and I have read it could be snub mounts as well.
Anybody else have this issue? Is it something I just have to live with?

If you have an auto tranny, they're known for this.

I just noticed this the other day. Temps are cold out. Is this normal? Do the lower Tempe effect the tranni mount more? Off to the search bar...

^ not for me. Cold or hot, same thing. It vibrates at low RPM and annoys the shit out of me. There has got to be a way to adjust the ECU to not idle so low
have the same problem with my auto... It just seems like its idleing really low, but auto cars are famous for rough idle in Drive in my exp. working at car dealerships etc.

same here too on my 08 2.0 6AT. It seemed a bit smoother in the warmer temps though. This is my first Auto car in like 8 or 9 years, so I had to check if this was normal or not too.
Still getting used to that, the granny shift logic and wondering why it always wants to get into 5th or 6th ASAP and lug the engine.

I have a manual transmission and mine does the same thing. At idle it just barely shakes the car, u gotta concentrate to notice it but once i give it 100rpms or so, the small bit of vibrations go away. It is not verry noticeable but enough to notice and annoy me.

I find myself shifting back into 5th pretty often

When I first got the A4 i gave it the benefit of the doubt. Maybe it was saving gas?....nope not really. Maybe I read the manual wrong and it was a CVT....nope double checked that.
Now i find myself using the tiptronic paddles daily to smack some sense into the car. I live a slightly hilly area and sometimes even going up a hill it's so adamant about doing it in 5th or 6th before finally downshifting into 3rd or 4th. Sometimes the shifts are a bit abrupt, because the same time I'm giving it a prod with my right foot the ECU decides to downshift and I get a not to smooth downshift.
