I really cannot decide.

I have stock 17's now and I am thinking of v718's 19" but rubber is pricey and I've read some people complain about ride. I am going to lower my car another .5" and I do not want to rub. I was thinking of running 245/35/19 but I am also concerned on rubbing.

I talked to Matt @ VMR wheels and he says that v718 are 19" only and that alot of people like the 19"s

So v710's @ 18" or v718's @ 19's?

YES I SEARCHED! I'm not that much of a noob

I went from stock 17 to v701 19". I'm lowered on springs/shocks, not low enough for some people here though, but I like it. About the ride now, that is all your choice but I can tell you mine is stiff and let's say it would bother me that much, but oh boy when I get a hole in the road... I feel pain. I'm running 235 tires, maybe getting 245 would help a bit. So my advice is get 19" if they're good roads where you live, if not don't bother.
Good luck

I think the ride can be remedied by suspension settings...the tires do play a role but i see plenty of people with decent sized tires and horribly stiff suspension... I used to live in NJ and i can see Shiro's point...the potholes are brutal and will cause you some pain, but in a relatively flat state with decent roads, i would go 19's all day and not worry about it

I live in the city. Houston/cypress area and drive 95% highway.

Also, what do you do with the 17's? And a spare? Run no spare, keep 1 17" ? Sell the rest? What about pricing for older 17"?

Always keep a spare.... I don't like selling my stock wheels, you never know when you will need them again...If you have a garage they stack up nicely in a corner, if no garage.....find someone who does :)

Got it. Keep 17" and store in my attic

Im lowered quit a bit..... running 19's with 225's in the rocky mountains and am fine.....(tucking half the tire)

get 19's & drop it!

YES keep the spare! The rolling diameter should steel be almost identical....

To me 19's look too big on our relatively small cars.

I vote 18.

718's @ 19....

[up]You will not be disappointed.[up]

Edit: if you have the cash get a 5th, if not the stock 17 should have a very similar in size to the 19 if you get the right tires. I know mine are nearly identical, had a blow out n used the stock 17 for 3 days without problems.

18" do it!

Well I really like the v718's better, but the v718's don't come in 18's
The v710's do, but I do not like them as much.

I am concerned about the price of tires and wear on the tires as well.

My genius intuition says:

Get 18's if you want 18's
or
Get 19's if you want 19's

BUT

Don't get 19's if you want 18's
and lastly;
Don't get 18's if you want 19's

Most importantly:
wheels = rimz

lols that's kind of obvious ;)

I am going to go with the v718's - now the real task, getting the rest of the $ to pay for them!

final question - silver or gunmetal? NOT getting black

NOT getting black
Do it! Matte black looks so sexy

Do the 19s, they look so good. I have 245/35 tires though, and they do rub quite a bit. You get used to it, but it scares the shit out of passengers. You might not have a rubbing issue if you don't lower it a4 much as me.

I vote for gunmetal....or matte black...but gunmetal has always gotten my attention in a special way lol

freaksavior

At that's not to bad, I could always get the fenders flared out a bit if it rubs like that.

Still wondering on the silver/gunmetal though. I am not a huge fan of black wheels even on white.

Mine are Gunmetal, and they look awesome.

Can I get a better picture of the car?

I have two good friends, one with 18" and the other with 19", both are lowered via coil overs, although neither is a freak show. I'm running my stock 17" wheels. Both of my friends have a harsher and noisier ride than mine, especially the one with 19" wheels. They both get worse gas mileage too. Their rides do look pretty good so I guess it really amounts to exactly what you are after as there are bona fide compromises: appearance versus stiffer/ noisier ride, some loss of economy, tire and wheel costs etc.

Had 18s (wanted to save money on the wheels as well as tires) on my B6 and they still looked small, went to 19s within 4 months. Also went with 19s on my B7 because 19s look 10000000 times better on our cars but you have to watch the road closer for pot holes. On a white car do gunmetal.

I went with 19"

thanks guys :)

is there a way to vag the computer to know it has 19" tires/wheels and adjust the computer/

i would think the overall diameter of the wheels would be similar...

http://www.rimsntires.com/rt_specs.jsp is a helpful tool... i think with 19's and 245/35/19 you would be 3/10ths of an inch taller...

Get 235/35/19s for tires, and you will only need to remove the fender lining screw at the top of the wheel well to fix all rubbing problems
