It depends... are you talking bone stock or modded? If modded, what mods? (This is the only input that I have on this... I couldn't give you a number)

it may read 134 on the speedo but i believe the audi speedo's are +/- 3-5 mph off the actual speed. anyone, does anyone know how to remove the governer via motronic or vag com? Is that even possible without a tune?

first of all, wtf is a 'kmh'? secondly, why would anyone want to drive a 3500lb sled that handles like shit at top speed? i love my A4, but c'mon guys. top speed in an a4 should never be a reality unless you have a lot of work in the suspension, tires, brakes, and engine.
and LOL at a stock 2.0t being able to pull an a4 to 150mph. It would take 15 miles of straight level road to do it-if it wasn't electronically limited.

Not sure how to remove the governor, or if that is even possible, but you are correct about the speedo being off. I'm still on stock rollers... quit laughing... and my speedo is always 5mph slower than what it is reading when I pass a standing radar station.

Though it doesn't apply to a majority here. But The A4 is a German car, and most of the German brands (Audi, BMW, Porsche, Mercedes, VW) are built to handle the high speeds of the Autobahn. I lived in Germany for 8 years and saw all types of cars pushing 130mph+. Would I max out a Buick Century on the Autobahn?!? No! But a stock A4 will do just fine at 120mph+. You should see some of the Opel's that breeze by on the autobahn.......

Took mine to 140 when it was stock. Took my old K04 B5 to 155ish and then ran out of gears
Ran out of gears or ran out of power? Curious because in 6th gear 5800 to 6000 rpm equates to about 174 to 180 mph, and in 5th gear 145 to 150 mph. This is for a FWD. Final drive ratio in the Quattro is slightly less so the mph numbers would be commensurately lower. I suspect, with the 4 banger anyway, the A4 can't pull max horsepower in 6th.

This was a PC16 FWD with basically every bolt on. I was at 7k rpm at around 155 in 5th so I had no where to go. PC16 was rated about 250hp/300tq without some of the other supporting mods and the car only weighed about 3100 lbs.

Speedo is factory set to read +3mph over actual.
Stock A4 is set to cut fuel at 127mph.
Once chipped, w/o engine and trans mods, max speed is 156mph at which point the car is out of breath.

Hey, most cars start to become "drag limited" at 138-150 mph. I lived in Germany for 13 years and raced every type of car on the autobahn with my motorcycle and sometimes with rental cars. Takes a bunch of HP to overcome drag with almost every car made. Corvettes and some other blade type cars can punch higher of course. However, I remember one car I nicknamed "big daddy" was the MB SL500 Sedan. That friggin car could power past me on a GSX-R 1000 at over a 140 mph without an apparent effort! I would be in a full tuck behind the fairing and I would glance over at the left mirror, AND AN MB SL500 would be there!! And there isn't a "blockier" looking car! So, maybe, there isn't a real drag on car shapes? Those MB's would pass me like I was standing still!! I would race up to them and they would RIP!! down A-67 towards Frankfurt and I would really have to shift and try and keep up. Most times the car could hit close to 200 mph (EST) and I would be stuck at around 176 (indicated) what a pisser! Of course that was in 2000-2002. Most newer cars probably can hit in the 170's with a chip and pipe and filter. Regulated most cars hit a rev limit of 130-138 mph. My old Plt. Sgt had a M5 that he "claimed" could do over 176 mph on his drive every morning from Frankfurt to Mannheim. Never rode with him though. But he was always on time for morning (0600) formation.

Does anyone have a solid number for a B7 A4 2.0T 6spd Manual with APR stage 1? Would really love that info don't have any roads near here where i can actually stretch my cars legs but when i find one I am going to post my top. Just curious now as to what i can pull.
Don't mean to sound racist or anything, but the reason why you have morons like hercfe here is because the US isn't really a country you'd love to enjoy top speeds in, which explains his complete ignorance. So what if the car is heavy? That actually makes it more stable at high speeds. When it comes to enjoying these cars Europe, particularly Germany and the Autobahn is where it's at. I loved even driving a rental GTI there and found it amusing when I would be passed by delivery vans at 140mph.

when i was completely stock i had the car up to 138-143 mph <gps calculated)
ever since i started modding i havent bothered trying to push it, a few weeks ago i dropped it down and punched it on the freeway but after realizing i was well past 140 and just into 5th, i backed off :-/ people (including me) drive to stupid around here to attempt anything crazy. And this car is extremly stable at those speeds, i had my old pickup top out at 89mph and that felt like a death box, the audi felt comfortable and normal driving 135+.
My caddy rabbit barely does 75 mph and feels fairly stable in a staight line lol

first of all, wtf is a 'kmh'?
I know it is an old tread but here is your answer
K = kilo (metric)
M = meter (metric)
H = hour
So it is the speed in metric, it is used in most of the world, even US tried to change over but did not succed, why I do not know [confused]
For the speed the A4 is very stabble at speeds over 160 kmh (100mph)
My old A4 TDI would doo 225 in 5th gear without any issues, was chipped [evilsmile]

Depends on how big of a cliff you push it off of. Anyone know what the drag coefficient is for the car? How much does the DC change when it's travelling floor pan first off a cliff? These types of questions need to be answered.

my 155 was GPS as well. GPS is technically the most accurate, with any decent GPS chip it is as close as can be. escort radar have beastly GPS chips in em (plenty of space)... cell phone not so much haha. but in a straight line at a constant speed GPS is 100% accurate the cell phone will just lose out in bends. b/c it will cut the turn slightly more each data point and therefore calculate a lesser total distance. i have yet to see my gps speedo falter even at high speeds, tight turns

Worst part of that speed run was the braking. With the s4 bbk kit the cars hips wiggled pretty hard. Definitely had me focused.

I upgrade front and rear proportionally so the braking bias should be the same as stock just stronger all around. I think it's just the way our cars handle hard braking. I've felt this in other heavy cars on track. Just never expected it from my a4. Kinda reminded me that these things really are pigs.

No reality check really. It took me less than two miles to reach what I was comfortable with GPS 160-163 and you shouldn't do top speed runs unless your certain your car is in working order but these cars stock are designed for 155 on le autobahn out of the factory. Toss in some coils nice tires good brakes a tune and you have a very safe vehicle to do high speed runs. Just need the space and skill.

don't worry... you'll get there lol. i am resigned to the belief that any quattro fsi pushed far (350-375+) will start falling apart like a runaway train. Not counting the hit i took when my variator failed, which was mostly due to the location i was in (bumfuck kansas), aka if i was still in nova it wouldn't have cost me more than 3k to get her running again. it's b/c i'm so far away from RAI, i can't just drive it up or tow it there whenever i want lol. my parents' house is 65 miles from RAI, i had the audi towed there once for free on my cousin's AAA card haha

Lol. says racist, doesn't say racist comment. There are only a few spots in the US where we can enjoy the top speeds and that's mostly flat and shittay. To be honest I'd rather just be able to power through the corners and pull hard on the exit.

Well since this thread is back, a question for the 2.0 guys... What's your gearing situation? I'm hearing people say they're over 130 mph in 4th? My 3.2 is hitting 7k in 4th at 123 mph. And I know these cars are electronically limited to 130ish (US spec). The highest I recorded on the GPS was 133 mph. It's crazy how much high end power the 3.2 has. It gets its shit together around 100 and pulls hard to 130. My half mile ET is 124 mph bone stock so I can get on the highway and be at my limiter by the next exit. I've hit that damn limiter so many times I really want to see this car's potential if I ever get the limiter removed. When my buddy in his Fiesta ST and I head out east to the race track we set cruise control to 130 for miles. It's amazing how stable these cars are at these speeds, it'll roll 130 so casually.

I don't know, but my car originally topped out at 128 (going slightly downhill with a breeze), but more recently it has read 134 when you feel the limiter kick in. its probably just a b7 thing where the vehicle speed sensor gets loose or out of place and misreads by a certain percentage (because it doesn't read 7mph at idle)

Terminal velocity.
that can vary too....
so v = sq root of (2mg/PAC)
However what if you put it in a cargo plane ?
Well how fast is the plane flying?

Well how fast is the plane flying?
the question; what did you search to pop this thread out with a such question?

Found myself alone on a back road the other day. Was able to get her up to 185 mph - surprised how stable she was. Of course, had to use my JATO mod to get up there.
