Hey guys,

I'm looking to upgrade my 05 A6 (3.2) to the S6 (I think they are the S6. everyone says the S6 are better and have more LEDs) headlights with the LEDs. I have no idea how to code anything with VAGCOM and am afraid to mess anything up with my precious. I have done a ton of research and have talked to people that treat me like a pile of shit because I don't know how to do this. I am hoping to get someone a bit nicer and help me out on getting this done.

Ultimately I'd like to get this:

http://www.carpartslights.com/images/104/104-two.jpg

The bottom layer of LED's is probably not going to happen because I know the LED upgrades are a ton expensive as it is.

Your probably going to ask for the following information:

2005 A5 3.2
Has all packages
Xeon projectors
halogen DRL and fogs

My questions are:

How much are the headlights?

Where is a good cheap yet reliable place to buy them? I have had guys show me ebay but I'd rather not buy from the guys that say "not sure if the LED's work. you get what you buy"

What kind of coding is involved to get it to work with the regular controls in the car? It would be nice to have the regular fogs and old halogen DRLs act as fogs as well. Probably not possible though :)

Any help would be appreciated. I'm trying to get a total cost and try to learn along the way how to program the car.

Thanks to everyone!

Hey jdaudi,

I really don't know the A6 model inside and out. The S6 LED's are the bottom LED's in the picture. The headlights with LED's in the headlight housing will not fit your model; however, you can retro fit S6 LED's. You can find a S6 kit at various vendors. OEMPlUS does offer a kit. Then you will need to fabricate the LED's into the fog light slits and follow the wire diagram. Below is the link to the kit.

Thanks for your input. I have been reading still and seen here that it is possible to put the headlights with LED into my car: http://www.audi-forums.com/c6-forum/49556-retrofit-facelift-drl-headlights-a6-5.html

Maybe Im reading it wrong.

It looks like the fit is possible. I would call OEMPLUS and see what they say.

RS6 headlights would be what you are looking for. They will fit and the LED DRL's are better quality (and have 10 on each side with eyebrows) than the current facelifted A6 lights. They require wiring and coding though.

How is that even possible. You have to tell the car the LEDs are there?

I guess some people are way smarter than you and me when its time to send signals, connecting wires and resistors...

When its your job, i guess you just figure it out

Yes it is. I'm not linked to this guy at all, i was just trying to get the best price available for few A6 guys.

3 guys already bought their kits, 2 RS6 and 1 new A6 style.

2 videos from the guy who is selling... i think he can modify your headlights if you already bought them.

They aren't OEM. They are probably a cheap LED ripoff strip. I had experience with that on my old car. They said oh yeah, we can do that for this price. Well, I did some research and they were cheap ass LED strips and I'm not into buying it unless OEM. I don't know this guy/company well enough to buy from. They look legit but what happens if they just stop working or burn out? I mean OEM can too but I'm sure Audi doesnt use cheap materials for a key part of their aesthetics.

dude... i just received my headlights, this is RS6 OEM.

They are modifying the headlight so that the car receive the right resistance.

They add stuff in the headlight, a new module.

They have a 1 year warranty like all the parts.

A bracket for AFS was damaged during shipping, he sent me a replacement bracket today.

I'm really pleased with their service.

Do whatever you want, i have my headlights right here beside me (not installed) and there's no ripoff strip...

RS6 are 10 leds, new A6 are 6 leds

you would have to get the S5 replica lights from ebay or another source. shoot the seller an email and see what he says about applications to the C5 headlights. but I cant see how this would work, maybe it is possible.

the S6 LEDs however can be retroffited to your car with modification

Have you installed yet? If so, how long did it take and did you go it yourself? Crazy question: do your Fog lights still work after you installed?

The lights look sweet, I am seriously looking at buying the RS6 kit. Thanks in advance for the reply.

KrUsTyX
10-15-2011, 08:54 AM
The only extra wiring required is to connect a small wire from the headlight harness to the parking light (wich i didn't do yet).

They provide wires with OEM pins already attached, detailed instructions with pictures in a PDF.

I've returned one headlight to the guy, leds on passenger side stopped working. He asked me to return the headlight light that he will fix no problem.

The headlight is still in the mail.

Prior to this, i've runned the headlights maybe 2 months and they were working/looking really good!

He sold maybe 5-6 RS6 kits with this group buy, and from what i know, i'm the only one with that problem.

I'm looking for OEM RS6 ones on ebay, but i cant seem to find them. Do they swap out without any issues? I know someone who can code the LEDs for me. (hopefully it will work on 05 A6?)

KrUsTyX

It's not just about coding, it would be too easy.

RS6 headlights are available on ebay.de or ebay.co.uk

My two cents : i think having both the front lights DRLs + the S6 fog lights DRLs is too much!
I know someone who installed the A6 Facelift front lights on a 2005 modelit here and had some problems with height/distance sensors and the Audi Service refused to install it for him, so he had to do it himself. But it looks great now and had no problems since.

So good luck!

Halogen LED

Problem is not solved, their headlights are junk... the leds last 1-2 months max.

After sending the headlights, 130$ shipping, got them back, and they are still bad.

Do not buy those headlights, the leds are crap. Some guys sent their headlights 3 times, and the problem is always the same.

Do not buy headlights from AUDILED.

The problem is that almost every A6 in the state's came with AFS and these don't work if you had the AFS lights without recording and a new module.

JPJ2007
08-14-2016, 11:17 PM
Yeah. :/ Def sucks because I love my AFS but love the LEDs as well.

Don't the Facelifts with led drl have AFS option. Not sure about coding it though.

I know If I can't swap out the housings for oem led drl I'm at least retrofitting my projectors with some better ones. oem a6 projectors suck.
But, the afs is awesome.

FormulaElement
08-16-2016, 01:30 AM
AFS is awesome but it's designed to break. The wires have no plastic coating on them and they short each other out. And if your unlucky like me it will melt the copper so they're unfixable unless I take the whole thing apart and rewire the whole AFS mechanism.

Yes the facelifts come with AFS but this company doesn't make the facelift lights with AFS.

This may just be me, but it looks like the non-AFS facelift headlights have a bigger projector housing so they should be more luminous.

JPJ2007

Id love to get a pair of extra AFS lights. See what I can retrofit into them and still maintain the afs feature. TRS is about to release a MD2S 4.0 by the end of the year. They also have the 4gtle projector.
At very minimum, A clear lens and a custom shield shouldn't be much of an issue on these...

I retrofitted my wifes 08 pathfinder with some trs morimoto mh1 7.0's and took a road trip at night last week. Love em and put the oem C6 A6's to shame (Minus the AFS )

no. headlights without afs can not be activated. they lack the motor needed for afs inaide thenheadlight.
look at ebay listings, ags lights visibly have an extra motor and gear in them in photos of the back of the headlight

I don't think it is as simple as adding AFS lights and coding in VAGCOM. IIRC There are additional sensors in the car that communicate to determine the movement of the lights (steering angle, rear ride height, on-coming traffic sensor etc).

btw, these headlights are huge once they're out of the car. lol. That island is 3ft wide and the light almost goes covers it.

I'm not sure if I ever had AFS to be honest since I've never noticed anything special while driving. The question comes up for when when I start my car I get all sorts of warning dings, since the wheel sensor in the front right is bad, and one of the alerts is for "headlight rage control defective" so I'm assuming that I have some sort of motor that can change the angle of the light.

all xenon cars came with auto leveling I think... so that must be what that's related to.
I think you can throw your Vin in a search bar and find out what options your car has but I forgot the website that shows all that info.
