I called 2 Audi dealers in town to get a quote for the 55k miles service. The first one is asking for $780 + tax and the other is asking for $380 + tax. All I told them was that I need a 55k miles service excluding air filter and cabin filter change.

So how much did you guys pay for exactly?

I paid $0 in labor b/c I did it myself........its a joke. If you can change a spark plug then you can do your 55K service.

About $100 on the parts needed, it is an easy DIY.

I've read guys are also replacing the fuel filter around 50-55k miles. It's only a $30 part and is very easy to replace.

I was told 550 for oil change, filters, spark plugs, and other various checks.

Total rip off. I did not do it

Thanks everyone. I am still wondering how come it costs over $350 to do oil change ($80 taxed at dealer normally) + spark plugs replacement.

hence the nickname "stealership"

It really depends on if you're on CPO or Audi extended warranty. If you are on it, you should do it at the dealer to ensure trouble free warranty claims in the future. If you don't have a warranty, go with a good indy shop to save a lot of money.

The car is netiher CPO or having extended warranty.

The dealer replaced my plugs for $125 while the ignition coils were being replaced under the recall. They first wanted $275 because they wanted to do a complete computer check and update (if necessary). I smelled BS, but wanted the plugs changed, since they were exposed.

You pay over $350 for an oil change at the dealer? During the winter months when I'm at school, I'll pay for an oil change cause I don't have a garage or the time to do the change and they charge me about $170.

I've never been charged more than $70 at the dealership for an oil change.

Basically they are charging you a ton of labor.

If you read the 55k mile service checklist, they replace about $100 in parts, and all the rest is topping off fluids, visual inspection, and road test. Its a long list that sounds like a time consuming thorough inspection of the car. However the service takes them maybe 30 mins, the visual inspection is just them glancing under the hood and at the undercarriage when the car is on the lift, and the test drive is when they take it from the lot to the garage and back.

Its called a stealership for a reason.

The 55,000 mile service is listed in the owners manual. Most of the stuff isn't serviced but basically checked and they charge you for labor to do it. Air filter and cabin filter are really simple. You will probably have to do some homework on DIY on changing your spark plugs. You can buy those parts from ecstuning, online, or the dealer itself.

The dealer still changes my oil. I figure I am still ahead until I have some major service done in the future.

WTF are you doing taking your car to the dealer if your not under warranty?? You're begging to get raped.

Both Stoddart and Fred Baker charge me $69 + tax

Stoddart actually charges $79 normally but after I told them about the Fred Bakes it's been $69 since.
