View Full Version : Trunk refuses to close

Anybody know how to adjust the striking pin or the latch? Every time winter comes around, the latch doesn't flip up enough by the striking pin so the trunk doesn't close easily unless I put my hands on top of the trunk lid and push down while closing the trunk. Works, but that means I got sand/salt/mud/snow all over my hand.

yeah I'm aware of that, but gotta close that lid before I drive off. Just trying to avoid using the trunk until I can fix this, maybe wrap some tape around the striking pin so it pushes the latch up further to the point it catches properly.

This is due to cold weather, no adjustment, just replace the latch assembly. This happened to a lot of people
The latch assembly is not that expensive

Sounds like you've replaced the latch assembly before - how easy is it? Don't have a bentley manual, maybe I should invest in one if I'm keeping this car long term now.

Well, mine was acting during winter (even if not too cold, except today 32F) and yes I replaced mine. Pretty easy to do and I thing there is a DIY that has been already posted

Man i remember i had this issue, i would be standing smacking my trunk down for over 10 minutes in 30 degree weather. SUCKED! but I was fortunately under warranty, but now I have engine mount issues and am unfortunately NOT under warranty.

I already had this issue this year. I sprayed a bit of wd-40 into the latch assembly and it seemed to have done the trick.
