I'm looking for the license plate housing light for a B5 EURO trunk. Anyone have an idea where I can get that?

depends on weather or not it is a facelift euro trunk, or just a pre facelift NA/europe

the latter can be had at the dealer, the first will have to be sourced from a dealer in europe

How can I figure wich one I have? I just bought it and I don't know where it came from. It looks like the OEM one but wider...

Is the key hole flush or does it protrude like your original one?

I don't know if it helps or not but mine is from a 1996 North American A4 V6....

That is a NA trunk. They came on 96s. You can get whatever parts you need at the dealer.

This one looks pretty much like mine. I will check with a dealer. Anyone knows if it is expensive?

The key hole is like the original one. So it is a NA?

This is news to me, what is the difference between the 96 trunk and a facelift Euro trunk? I guess I've always assumed they were interchangeable save for the trunk latch liner were the triangle goes?

The Euro ones are different, in ETKA there are at least 6 listed for North America and Europe with different splits. The one on my car from the North American 1996 A4 was used from 02/96 to 07/96 and is part number '8D5 827 576 F GRU' and is sold with a primer coat. I didn't check all years but it looks like the European pre face lift cars used '8D5 827 576 G GRU' but you would need to confirm this as it is not clearly marked and it was used from 08/97 to 12/98. If you want a closer pic of the lock let me know and I can snap one for you but you need to identify the actual trunk lid. Look on the net for pics of the Euro lid to see if you can see any similarities or differences in the two so you can be sure of what you have. If you have a Euro trunk lid and not the North American one like mine then you may end up buying the wrong one. There are also post face lift handles and these have different part numbers so you may find a difference here.

The part number for the trunk lid in Europe is the same as the early North American one until the face lift so the handles may differ but it looks like the trunk lid shells are the same.

There you go, if it has a crease like mine then you can check a dealer with the first part number I posted otherwise you will need to get the dealer to check for the Euro face lift one. You may be able to find a used from Europe as well because it will be pretty common over there. I deal with EPP when I need Euro parts and he is pretty good, he buys from Germany and then has it mailed/shipped to your house. I've dealt with Christian a lot and I have never heard anyone with a problem so you can also shoot him and e-mail and see what kind of price he can get... http://www.europeanperformanceproducts.com/

notice that the plenth is flat, and the edges of the plate recess and angled, instead of straight

I thought about just double sided tape but then I thought to myself, these are dealer bought items that I paid wayyyyyy to much for. They should fit. I got a perfect 96 a4 trunk from the yard for 25 bucks so it all evens out.
