Here's the situation...
Currently own my 2006 B7 A4 FWD with 60K miles still under CPO. Have had the water pump and timing belt replaced under warranty and will taking the car to the dealer for a axle seal repair this week. Car is in pretty good shape but will need tires in the next few months and my payoff is 11,900.
I'm thinking pf purchasing a 2009 GLI which is also CPO. Figuring trade + payoff of my A4, I will be financing around 19K for the the GLI.
What would you guys do?

Less debt or more debt? Are you unhappy with the A4? What is your reason for wanting a GLI?
Obviously this is your choice, but to me, I have 24k left to go, I would not go for another car yet even if it was half of that. Your car is only 5 (6 model year) old. Unless you do not like it, then I say keep it.

I would keep the A4 for as lons as you have the CPO warranty, don't get me wrong the GLI is nice looking and fast, but the A4 has a nice look, just saying.
Does teh GLI have the DSG or is it manual?
All depends on your needs, teh GLI might be more years with worry free driving + the ECU is newer, oyu can addapt alot more on teh GLI than teh B7's, like teh cold diagnostics can be selected if you want to play with led's etc

Yeah, car with in the shop and was diagnosed with a faulty water pump so the dealer managed to get the timing belt covered as well.

No, I love my car but it has been in the shop more than a dozen times in the the 18 months that I have owned it. The only reason I have kept it this long is because I owe so little on it.

12k is little? Its not a shitload but its deff not a little. Now that u have the timing belt and water pump changed, i'd keep it well over 100k. That was easily a 2k job right there done for free.

Matter of perspective, I guess.

doesn't seem to make any financial sense. You already have a CPO on a FWD audi, going to another FWD GLI but paying 19k. I'd imagine that insurance would be more expensive on the GLI.

I would never finance more than 50% of a car's value

Sounds like you want a B8 really.

take it back to the dealer tell them something's wrong and see if you get a conversion to quattro covered under CPO and if they say no, trade it in.

18 months later? I would be very surprised if they did anything other than laugh in my face. BTW, I do "suspect" the one to be a lemon and every time I talk to the dealer about a trade, they shy away.

i had an GLI 2008 for 2 years until it was totaled 6 months ago...
then i bought a a4 ... truthfully i miss my gli because i had soo much money on that car.. but i still like my a4 better.
is literally like driving the same car, they drive the same, feels the same, it just changes the outside and interior lights.. if i were you i would stick with your A4. I dont think is worth it getting in debt again for the same "type" of a car
