17" S4 B5 rims? Why would you need to see them on an A4....they will pretty much look the same as on an S4 (Obviously withouth the other S4 exterior goodies) [confused]

Also the "Sport" feeling is much better than on thinner 16" wheels, (the pneumatic plays a big role too).

why not 18" Avus from b6s4? If you want to go for stock look or whatever atleast opt for bigger wheels..

i said it was useless because if you spend some time in the B5 A4/S4 forums, you would see all the people that run Avus wheels.

Yes it is...... I'm sorry to say but this is one of the most common wheel choices before putting money into some nice wheels.

Ummm what are you talking about? I run 17" avus wheels in the winter and 17" superleggeras in the summer and the avus's are by no means sportier than the much much lighter superleggeras. I can explain the dynamics of how you are 100% wrong if you want. What do you mean by "pneumatic plays a big role?"

I went from Michelin Hydro edge 16" to Bridgestone Pole Position S03 17". There is a lot more steel in the Poleposition with race compound vs the normal previous tires.
This is why the tires play a big role.
Also, the lower the tire sidewall, the less deflection you normally get, and those Avus are 1/2" wider ; more contact area, more grip...

12-01-2010, 08:34 AM
Ahh then your post makes slightly more sense, since it was a wheel thread i figured you were talking about wheels and not tire size or construction. Smaller sidewall will definately improve responsiveness and handling. The avus may be wider but that does not dirrectly effect contact area, that all depends on the tires you run.

I hope the op knows how much these wheels weigh and you will feel a difference in reduced acceleration compared to smaller stock wheels especially if your engine is mostly stock.

for B6 S4 18's you dont need spacers.

You need 5mm spacers in the back if you don't want to rub the control arms during slight bumps. I've had my B6 S4 Avus 18's forever.

Some kind of gunmetal, not really sure I bought them already painted. They were also pretty beat up so I started to repaint them but the cold set in before I could finsh so they're in primer
