I was searching for info on DV, while I came across this amazing thread (http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/153142-All-your-Blow-Off-Valve-(BOV)-amp-Diverter-Valve-(DV)-By-Pass-Valve-(BPV)-Questions!?highlight=n75+710n+dv) for S4's.

Looks like i'm going to get the 710N. They are all speaking highly of it for the price.

Basic question here: Is there anything else I should replace before I send off my order to ECS Tuning (http://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B5_A4-Quattro-1.8T/Search/710N/ES581/) (looks like the cheapest)? I heard some talk about the clamps... Is it common to replace them, or any lines?

Just use simple screw clamps found at your local autoparts or hardware store. Taking the stock ones off might be a bit of a pain, though (you will learn your own technique over time). And no need to upgrade your dv, unless you need to (running more boost or your current one is simply toast). And you can always find the 710n for cheap (keep an eye on the classifieds on here, fourtitude, etc). I actually just gave mine to a fellow AZ member when I upgraded (he paid for shipping).

Yep. If your DV is still original, it will have the OEM "one time use" clamps. You will have to replace them. I like to use these German style clamps with rolled edges. The DV connections are about 30mm, so this clamp should be perfect:


These look very much more "OEM" style than your part-store screw clamp would. If you care about that sort of thing.

You guys are the two most helpful people on here. Thank you! I am just trying to stay ahead of the maintenance curve, and get everything ready for a K04, so i'm ready when mine poops on me.

Thats what I did my original DV was still ok but at 85k I replaced it with a 710n since ecs was having a killer deal on them. Since I am planning on chipping next year sometime

We've got them, and you could just come grab one anyday this week. Send me a PM if you want a price.

However, I do recommend just going for our metal/rebuildable 034Motorsport Diverter Valve; going to last a lot longer. I've had 710N go bad on me with the way I drive.

Thanks Max. I am just looking for something to hold up my K03 and get everything ready for a K04.

BTW - hopefully my parents will be ordering a DP and HFC from you guys sometime soon :) lol

I tried to put it in just now. It fit's in my 034 Tip just fine, however the hose on the opposite end is too small.
Was I supposed to buy a larger bore hose too?
Also, on the new one there is a little spot for a vac line (it looks like - my best guess). On my OEM one there is just an inlet and outlet.
Do I need to hook it up to something, or can I just leave it out not hooked up to anything?

EDIT: Oops, took off the PCV valve, not the DV.
