View Full Version : Front bumper - need contrast !!!

I'm looking into getting a new bumper. It doesn't really matter which is going to be I would really like to have some contrast between the actual bumper and the red like in the picture (the picture is just for reference). I really love how the white ones look. They really show a nice contrast with the black grille and the vents.
Any ideas on a black car? I don't see any way of doing this, there's not really a color to look good and to show contrast.

I saw someone that had 'chromed' the vertical bars on a S4 grille. I think that if you painted the grilles gloss black and added the chrome touch, it wouldn't be bad and would be quite the contrast. With that being said, you picked the wrong color for contrast. . .
you could do a sort of matte black, cuz your car isnt matte black

i think thats a bit too much. but what i would suggest is paint the area around the rings in red and everything else matte black.

I've seen a black B6 with red rings and some other red on it.. Looked pretty sexy imo. Well we all know how well black contrasts with white, how about the opposite? white on black? Mmmmmmm? Be different! Different is good. =D GL, let us know what you're gonna do

Not sure what to suggest for contrasting bumper color, but I am curious about your mirror caps. Are they chrome or matte silver or brushed aluminum? I'm thinking about these on my brilliant black B7.

Somehow people just don't get that the red was only to show where you wanted contrast. IDK, it's not going to be easy for since you got what looks to be a black A4, so much detail is lost in the paint.
If you want some contrast I'd go s-line and get an S4 grille with platinum filler plate then chrome the vertical slats to match your side views.
redlabel81 had the chromed S4 grille on a black car with platinum Euro plate holder if you wanna see what it looks like.

Just get an RS4 honeycomb grill with an AWE fmic behind it. That will add tons of contrast and look sporty since you'll be able to see right through it :)

I know that the urge to be different is a big one, but you gotta keep simple and clean in mind. I'd say the best way to contrast with black would be chrome. That doesn't mean you still can't be unique with it.
For a suggestion, I would start with your headlights. I'd CC them first, and then add some black in there, but leave chrome accents. Then continue the chrome with subtle accents in the grilles. Maybe chrome the strip in the 2 lower outer bumper grilles (line that goes through fog lights)? Never seen that done before. Anyways, just play around with it, you'll get there.

Put an RS4 grill in your front bumper..... it will look good and not Honda-ish tacky like your idea seems to be

If you would read what I said you would understand that I don't want to paint the grille red. I said I just need contrast and asking for ideas. I said as well that I don't know how this is possible having in mind the black color of the car. The picture is just to show what areas I would like to have different. But how?? Who knows?
