if you have a CEL go to an autoparts store and get it checked out.

Plugs? That's what happened to me when my plugs were gapped wrong.

change your plugs, get a new maf, get a vagcom, and post up the code.

in the mean time disconnect the negative side of the battery for about 5 minutes, that will reset the ecu and make the car a little easier to drive. whatever codes come right back are in need of immediate attention.

Can you elaborate on how you cleaned the MAF and air filter?

Sure enough the plug is f'ed. To clean the MAF I just shook it in a bag of rubbing alcohol and let it dry. I have a K&N filter so I used their cleaning kit. Tap out the crud, use the cleaner, rinse with water, dry, and then put on the filter oil

Be careful not to over-oil the filter with the new oil.

Did the new plugs help?

next dayed them yesterday from ECS, so I'm guessing they'll be here tomorrow (in time for thanksgiving travel). FYI disconnecting the negative didnt do anything

X2

that oil can really screw with the MAF sensor

Not sure. I hadn't oiled it for a while and it went bad before I oiled it again. Hopefully the new 1 will fix it

cylinder 1 and 4 misfiring and MAF circuit off. Ordered new coilpacks and sparkplugs and dry filter. new MAF didn't do anything
