I've searched and I haven't been able to find a B7 A4 Quattro with 4 really wide tires. Anybody have a picture of what a B7 A4 would look like (from the rear, side, etc.) with some wider wheels and tires (eg. 275/30)?

definitely not, without some serious spacers and/or 4x4 status lmao

Ive got 255/40s on my b6 and it looks great! Seeing as the stock 17s are 7.5 inches wide I would not go any wider than 255s

255's would look perfect on our cars...... unfortunetly i have not seen too many of these set-ups

Because everybody is too low to run 255's on a wide wheel, rubbing is our nemesis.

Sorry for the confusion, but I wasn't necessarily looking for these tires on stock wheels.
Does anyone have any pictures of a B7 A4 Quattro with ~9.5" wheels with wide tires?

Maybe possible on the rear, but definitely not on the front. Only way to get that wide of a tire on the front is to squeeze the tire onto an 8.5" wheel. To run a 265 or 275 without widening the fenders, you would also need to run a tire (like certain Toyos) that are known to run narrow, because overall width measurement varies greatly depending on tire brand and model. A good example of this is my street set up vs. track set up. My 255 race tires are as wide as my 265 street tires. I tried to fit a 265 race tire, but it was like almost 2 inches wider than my 265 street tire. You need to look at every tire's overall width measurement. You can't buy just any 265 or 275 that you feel like running

What about the S4/RS4?
This is only my second A4. I've had five M3s, so I guess I'm just used to trying to get as much meat on the ground as possible. [drive]

Doesn't matter what kind of car, the process of fitting wider tires is the same. Are you going for looks or performance? The BMW is pretty straight forward in the sense that whether your for looks or performance, a staggered set up is the way to go. Difference on an AWD car is that for performance, you should not run a staggered set up. For looks, you can (on an A4) run a staggered if you choose to. I believe you an get a 285 in the rear of an A4 with the right set up, but a tire that's known to be narrow 265/275 is the max up front.
S4 body is the same as an A4. RS4 has flared fenders, so a 285 is doable on the front and rears. Years ago Stasis even tried 295's on the RS4, but it made too car's handling to weird.

OP, I would get some 18x9's and run 255/35/18....that will look nice and meaty on our cars

^^ I could be wrong, but I don't think you can get away with a 9" wide wheel with a 255+ tire up front. The key to getting a wide tire up front is to run 8.5" so that it pulls in the side wall enough to fit.

I have a 9.5 inch wheel in the rear with a 255 tire. Not low yet but will be soon.

i was able to fit 19x9 +52 IIRC with a 255/35 tire on it (OEM tt sline wheelsi needed a spacer but i was able to drive on it. so final offset being 42-41 would work with a 255 on a 9 up front.. any more than that youd have to sacrifice hight to get the tire on there no rub.
OP why such a wide tire? i havent seen/heard of anyone with a b7 making enough power to need such a wide tire on the street or track.

Thanks for the heads up fafa, good info to know. 42-45 ish offset is definitely the magic number to fit wide tires up front. Most don't know this, but stock S-line wheels are 18x8 et42, which a few track guys have squeezed 255s on. Cheap way to upgrade handling performance.

Yeah i.know. but if i were to go with a strictly track setup. Id go 17x9 et 40 ish with a 265/35...

That would be a good drag set up, but on a road race track you'd be bashing the fender lip in the corners for sure. I ran the Falken Azenis in a 265x35 on an 18x8.5 et44 wheel for a while, and on the track the tire just barely rubbed the paint off of the bottom edge of the fender, and burned a hole through the fender liner, and just barely rubbed the inner control arm a couple of times as well. This was with about 1.5 of negative camber. I'd say I was maxed out on the width for sure. A 265 on a 9 inch wheel with a 40 offset would of definitely taken out a fender in a suspension compressed turn.

Then maybe bring the offset back down to 44 or so. I think the 17 will give you enough clearence due to smaller diameter. And a decently stiff track set of coils would help that as well. I havent gne out and tried it. so i wont question your input on what does and doesnt rub
275/30/19 in the rear. This was when I had my springs. It's about 1/2 inch lower on my coils right now. 10 inch wide in the rear with a really crazy offset. We ended up shaving a little bit off the back of the center of the wheel to clear the caliper in the rear but they fit perfectly

I think we will have enough power very soon good sir. She's finally back on the road. I'm afraid when the real boost starts coming on ; )

The way the inner control arm is bent, I think you'd have to go with a 40 series height on a 17x9 so that the diameter is in the 25" range, and definitely a 42-44 offset. For an R compound tire maybe run something like a Toyo R888 in the 255/40R17. That would give you a 25.1" diameter with a 10.4 overall width. But, there is no benefit to this vs. an 18" set up, except that the 17" set up would be a hair lighter. But, on the 17" set up, you can't run the 370mm BBK, which is a 100 times more beneficial for our piggy cars on the track than shaving a pound or 2 per wheel. Hence the reason why I went 18" for my track set up.
The control arm curve could be the issue. Too small a diameter tire and it rubs further down on the control arm. Too tall a tire and it rubs up top on the ball joint mount point.

Nope no rubbing at all. My H&R coils are all the way down in the back and everything fits perfectly

Reviving this, kinda..
So I was wanting to run a 255/35 or 40 on a 17/8 or 9 on my b7 s4. I do want to lower it to kill the fender gap completely too. Is that doable? Swordrider kinda alreadt answered this, I want to run that as my street set up

I'm running a 255/30 on a 19x9.5" rim and I only rub if the car bottoms out. I'm also on sport suspension but the previous owner rolled the fenders (properly might I add).

Lol i like that setup you have. 255's FTW. I might go that wide 245's at the moment and love it but little wider wouldn't hurt.

Ive always been a handling guy, im just too poor to afford PSS9s or KW V3.
But as far as wheels and tires i think im good. Maybe 265s when these wear out but we'll see

I tried taking a direct rear shot of my 19x9.5 et40 rear wheels with 265/30's right now but pictures don't do it any justice, I love how meaty it looks. Here's one for reference.
