View Full Version : Manual Tranny Oil Cooler

Has anyone installed a Manual tranny cooler? I want one because after a few laps, the gears start to whine and occasionally grind. Very noticeable at higher RPMs. It just happens after a few laps during trackdays, during normal high spirited driving, whine/grind isn't there.

* I searched, all I could find were for tip.

Ever flush your fluid and replace with some Motul or Redline?

Oil coolers for our transmissions aren't commonly used.

Oil coolers for power steering and motor are used more commonly.

I was already planning to change my tranny oil, but wanted to do the cooler (if even possible) at the same time, that way I don't waste tranny oil.

I already have the motor/ps coolers.

The (R)S4 gearboxes have a built-in oilpump and use an oilcooler. You could swap your gearbox but this will require a lot of additional modifications. And, of course, you'll need enough power for this conversion to let it make sense.
