My dad just offered me to trade me his 2001 Audi A4 for my 1999 Audi a4.

My dads:
1.8T Sport
75,000 miles

1.8T Sport
125,000 miles
Volcano Black/Tan

I dont care much about it being a tiptronic cus I dont plan on doing any crazy mods. I live in Sacramento and get 0 snow; I rarely drive up to the snow in my car.

Its supposed to be a straight trade. Should I do it?

uhhh your dad's '01 can't be pre facelift.

and it depends.

I'd say the cars are pretty even price-wise. One being lower miles, the other being quattro. That said, the FronTrak is going to be faster and for cali the quattro isn't really needed. Along with the low miles, I'd say it is good trade, as long as the cars are equal maintenance-wise. If you just did tires/suspension/t-belt/water pump on yours, and the '01 needs all the stuff yet...not a good deal. Maintenance makes or breaks these cars sometimes. However, if his just got a t-belt and control arms, and yours is falling apart, TRADE UP SON.

Well, I did TB, WP, and pulleys like 12k miles ago; his is still a virgin.

My is lowered on H&R springs; his is stock sport suspension.
I'm on stock wheels; his has some nice wheels.

He's not going to keep my car for long (if we decide on trading), so that is why he offered to trade me.

oh and

his has ugly sideskirts, ugly rear valance, and missing front valance (looks funny, bought it like that).
mine looks pretty much stock.

I'd much rather have BLK/BLK. The rest is small stuff( And would be your benefit, if you enjoy projects and/or [wrench] ) lol . On the other hand, as long as you don't cheat your Dad, well cause after all he is family.

he brought it up.

he drove my care and said he didnt like how my transmission shifted.

Due to yours having timing service done, and not having ugly body parts, I would keep yours.

Trade him wheels?

the body kit is an excuse for me to get S4 bumper/sideskirts

I would keep the Quattro, you may not see much snow but you do see rain and AWD works in more conditions than snow. These cars are not really all that great in FWD configuration, that is a lot of weight hanging over the front centre line of the front wheels with nothing in the back to offset it. For me the crappy body kit would be the deciding factor as this just adds more work to a inferior car to the one you own.

Your dad is smarter than you, so he probably has a reason behind wanting to trade. I would keep yours
