View Full Version : My New Interior!

Well I am a very happy camper today because I just picked up an entire S4 interior from a local junkyard. Its the black/blue leather/alcantara interior and it is sexxyyyyy! I am hopefully going to be able to install it this weekend! [up]

On a side note, this interior came with the bose speakers in the door cards. Does anyone know if the system is plug and play, or do I need different connectors/an amp to get the speakers to function correctly?

Anyways, heres a pic. Sorry, only one for now [:D]

Very nice. Make sure you get a fabric shaver for the alcantara.

Plug and play. However, I believe that the bose sound system utilizes a 4 channel amp.

A bose system will not work with a non bose system. The wiring / amps / speakers are completely different.

Bose system, all 4 speakers are amped, all speakers are 2 ohms.
Stock system only the rears are amped, and all the speakers are 4 ohms.

I see. Thanks for the info. I guess I will have to swap my old speakers.

no prob! The sizes are different too so you might have to get a little creative.

Damn clean interior though, should look great!

That's an unreal price......Great find.

Also, I'm running Bose front speakers in my Non-bose B5 A4.....They work just fine. Connections are all the same. Been running em for a few months. All is well

Really?
i know theres an ohm difference. But maybe 2 ohm speakers will run on 4 ohm power. Probably not a good idea though. Let one of the audio junkies chime in.

I don't particularly care.....I'd heard they wouldn't work, but decided to just try it out.....They have been working fine for a while. If they eventually blow (or worst case, if my entire system somehow decides to shit the bed), then I'll go with a full aftermarket overhaul......But I hardly listen to music in the car anyway....

the bose 2ohm speakers on a stock 4ohm deck will just burn the internal amp up sooner.. so use em till it quits, replace and go again.

Euromike
11-11-2010, 07:05 PM
I dont blame you, i probably would have done the same.

the way i see it, the speakers are receiving too much power. As long as you dont crank your volume, should be fine.

You don't really need a fabric shaver just as a heads up. Just use some sort of brush to make all the fuzzies ball up, and use a disposible razor [up]

Well that's good to hear. I'm probably going to do the same thing, and just replace stuff with quality equipment if/when it blows.

i know theres an ohm difference. But maybe 2 ohm speakers will run on 4 ohm power. Probably not a good idea though. Let one of the audio junkies chime in.

Since there is half the resistance of what the amp was designed to run, the amp will run at twice the power output. So if the speaker output is rated for 100 @ 4ohms it will run at around 200 @ 2 ohms. If you run these on your non-bose amp, only run up to half power since that would be equal to full power on a set of 4 ohm speakers. If you want more of an electrical explanation let me know, I don't have much time to post this. GL.

UPDATE:

I got the seats installed today (sorry, no pics yet) and I have a slight problem: the red AIRBAG light is on. Does anyone know why this is? I have all the connections in place and connected correctly. I figured since these seats were still OEM, the airbags would have no problems.

revolution337
11-14-2010, 06:31 PM
Bump. Anyone have any ideas as to why my airbag light is on?

stevejones19
11-14-2010, 06:37 PM
No VAG? It could be anything without an actual code. Mine is on in my car, but its just because of a bad ground.

JumboBlack1.8
11-14-2010, 06:38 PM
Try cleaning all the airbag connections with Electronic Contact Cleaner.....sometimes a bit of moisture in the contacts can trip the airbag light.

did you have/ turn the key on with the connectors un plugged ?

if so then the hard code needs to be manually cleared

Yes I did. Can I do this without vagcom? I don't have it yet :(

not that I know of. I know VAG is a 2 minute fix.

yeah you set a code for the infinite resistance in the front seats, you are going to need vag to clear the codes, durring this time the air bag system will NOT work so dont get in a accident
