View Full Version : 96 A4 2.8 auto: starter alternator wires

To get the starter out, I had removed the wires from the starter and the alternator (assuming they will be 'coded' to prevent wrong install).
After installing a new/used transmission, the car cranks but won't start, no spark.
To be sure this is not caused by these 2 wires, I would like your input if I got it right. I went by 'guts feeling' based on the angles of the connectors. The one for the alternator was bent to a right angle, which suited the install/position. The photos try to show the wire to the starter and alternator.

The alternator wire is blue, the starter one black.
