What if someone wanted to build an all motor setup that was a reliable daily driver from a 2.8 30 valve motor. What kind of reliable hp could u see on a quattro and what way would u build the motor? "Compression, valve train parts, would u bore out the block?" Just curious to hear what everyones thoughts are.

3.0 crank would be a must. Other than that I'm not sure much is available. You would probably need more aggressive cams, valve springs, and solid exhaust valves to rev it out to 8 grand but that really depends on what cams are available. With exhaust and good tuning a 3.0 should make 220-250 bhp. With cams and headwork and a lot more tuning it could approach 275-300 bhp. At this point there is more money in the build then a basic 1.8t with an eliminator which would easily get better gas mileage and make more power.

Just a thought, and I have no idea how hard this is but what about a b6 3L swap should give you 220hp, or the b7 v6 FSI gives 250 odd hp

With no offense to the 2.8 guys. I would never work on that motor. Swapping it out for a more recent and powerful V6 from a newer A4 would seem to me a better deal than Supercharging it and such. 2.8 is a great engine, but I just don't think it has any/much place for aftermarket work.
