hi guys,
i have a 96 quattro with ko4, 3inch exhaust and fmic,
the 96 ecu has limitations, which cut out when hit high boost,
i wanted to change the ecu's and put in a later model one, is this doable and how ?

(i previously installed a T3/T4, and blew my engine, so im in the process of re-build)

Here in North American, we dont have 96 1.8t, so none of us could answer your question. I'd be guessing it's pretty much like wiring a stand alone.

Just get a piggyback to clamp the peak MAF per RPM. Simply clamping peak MAF will not work. Don't forget to ADD fuel where you clamped MAF.

Upgrading to a 97 ecu would be pointless since my 97 aeb ECU also has problems with either high boost or sudden rise in boost. I think its fuel cut, but when I check the logs, it actually goes to 100% injector duty. I use AEM F/IC to tune. t3/t4 50trim .48a/r 630cc injectors.

I just clamped peak MAF per RPM. That way I the ECU would think boost is increasing gradually. And just added fuel using AEM F/IC.

Alpz, customcode.uk can do k04 tune for this (our) ecu.

Get a wiring diagram and solder the new plugs to the old wires(hard)
If I were you I would just run a standalone(you can also get a diagram and re-use the majority of the wiring harness.)
