Ok AWE says their flywheel weighs 12lbs. Unorthodox Racing says that their flywheel is 9lbs. Is there such a thing as too light? My friend was saying he thought lightened flywheel + turbo = wheel spin. But i've always thought that having a lightened flywheel would do nothing but good things for your engine. Bottom line is it worth the $500+ to get one?

yes there is a too light

your flywheel is there to dampen your engine vibration as well as start your motor/transfer power to the tranny. if its too light it doesnt have enough mass to work as a dampener which could cause unwanted vibrations and powerpulses.

plus the lighter the flywheel, the less torque/bottom end you have. because it is spinning less mass, it has less momentum.

the perfect weight is inbetween the too light not enough torque, and too heavy not enough hp
