View Full Version : windshield wiper linkage

Hey guys,
In the past week or so, my wipers have been going slower and slower and then completely stopped working. This morning I took apart the wipers and discovered that the driver's side arm had seized. I tried using WD-40, etc, and then tried to loosen it with force... Long story short, I snapped part of the linkage. It's now a hunk of scrap metal sitting on the side of my driveway. I'm in need of a new one, but the local junkyard doesn't have any and I'm looking for some reputable places online to price & order one from. Any suggestions on your part would be greatly appreciated! Thank you (:

This seems to be the going rate

how easy is it to access the wiper transmission? An Audi tech recommended I replace mine since my wipers make a full revolution but don't park at the bottom. They park in the middle of the windshield. I'm wondering if WD or white lithium grease would help this at all...

if you catch it early enough it seems that getting any rust off and giving it a good greasing should solve the problem... again if you catch it early enough.. I followed the directions from this thread to take it out.. only took about 20 minutes or so to get it out, i'd definitely recommend it before the problem gets worse...

hope this helps, good luck! only thing i can add to this is when you go to take the wiper arms off, bend them up then pull them off, makes it a lotttt easier
