I asked Chipster on AW and asked him if it was a possible DIY. He said that it's relatively hard for a DIY and you have to be very mechanically inclined...

well i'm in some auto tech. program now and i'm pretty sure some of my instructor can guide me trhough it...they were just not sure if i really need the special seal puller, cuz none of them actually ever worked on an audi before... i just don't want to end up taking everything apart and only to find out that i do need that darn special tool.

Is it the cam seals (front of engine) or the cam adjuster/tensioner seals (rear of engine)???

The cam seals you could do yourself if you had the seal puller, the cam adjuster seals are a bit more difficult because you have to have another special tool to re-install the cam adjusters. If you mess that up, it'll cause serious problems.
