Diving on a vacated freeway yesterday and did a few pulls from 80..

When cruzing I have absolutley no misfires. But when I floor it, it misfires like a mother fcker. Especially past 45k rpm..
Possible ICM going out?
I changed the coilpacks to brand new FCPs and it does the samething...

Also

I does unitronics remove the governor? I was goin 130 and it felt like my car wanted to keep going but it wouldnt go past it[confused]
might have to call uni on this one^

on second thought, is it possible that I was redlining 5th? I was focusing on the road... Anyone with high speed experince like to chime in[:)]

TIA

you very well could of been redlining 5th, but what is the gap on your plugs..... might have one or two bad coils, just not bad enough to force a hard cel.... i had that issue with the sti coils and with the autozone coils

i have uni as well.... but never got that fast

Misfires sound like a low transmitting ICM. Replace that motha. As far as the Uni top-speed, I honestly have not been about 130mph in my A4, that's what the bike is for :)

how the hell are u redlining 5th when fuel cut is 7500 rpm or around 176 mph with a uni tune? The uni tune does not remove the top speed governor the car has stock which is 130mph. This can easily be removed with a Vag. With a Gt28 u should be able 2 hit around 160 even though it falls on its face sooner then a bigger turbo like the 2871 and produces less power. As for doing repeated runs with severe misfires you will get what you have coming very shortly momo...

Vag Com the car, see what codes you are getting.. is the CEL flashing? When my plugs are bad, it will miss without a CEL, when the icm or packs are bad, the CEL will flash at you while its missing.

Where do I go in vagcom to do this?

Hmmm.. it never flashed. Infact CEL went away and came back later... Looking into getting new plugs, probs the new 3 prong E3's Even tho I got some Ngk coper plugs like ~2k ago.. I am going to go scan the car and post up

thanks guys for the input

coppers go bad every 2-3k that's why they are cheap.

I recommend iridum NGK's in your needed heat range.

2nd that... coppers will go bad very fast if you drive the shit out of it at 130mph ;). I've found they are good for 5k on my car the way I drive.

Only once have I had to change them earlier, and that was when I ran 100oct on a 91 program. I think running rich fouled them.

Used to burn Coil packs with copper plug, now with Iridium IX I am problem free for over a year now... at least problem free for the spark plug! haha

1. I would change the spark plug
2. Test the fuel pump for pressure
3. Inspect/clean the fuel injectors

Iridium IX last over a year??? I am really interested in using the new E3 3 prong plugs. Are they coppers?

1. Looking into which plugs to get.. E3's or iridium??
2. what is the pressure suppose to be at with the car running? and off?
3.cleaned the injectors like 1k ago when I pulled the intake mani

How do you remove the governor with VAG?

Could you be too lean at WOT? Too low fuel pressure or injectors is my guess.

what year is your car, how far you willing to drive. apr offers a 28 file....or theres a guy in NC who i personally know and awe will vouch for, programmed the states fastest s4...so on and so forth
absoluteautomotive.com make no mistake...they love VAG!

Car is a 98 a4 DBW obviously. I was thinking perhaps Ctapp? The misfires are so random, I was doing a WOT pull the other day with no misfires at all.. Im changing the plugs, if it persists then I will replace the ICM.

Well i assume that every dbc uni BT 28 tune is the same.... and i have it... and my car runs fine... so i kinda doubt the tune is to blame! I had the same problem as you and i changed up plugs and havent had any troubles since. if you want my ICM let me know!

disabled safeties, audible detonation and over 20 degrees of timing at PEAK torque on pump gas.

Then he blamed my car for all my issues.
