Ok well it looks like the a4 avant i was selling is going to get salvaged due to hail damage. I was wondering if it would be worth buying back.
What would you guys pay for this vehicle if it had a salvage title and you know it was for hail damage and not an accident .

1998 Audi Avant a4 , automatic, quattro v6 . 193k miles
b5 s4 bumper with rs4 mod,b6 s4 wheels and dropped on h&r springs

I'd imagine the shots are pre-hail or post-repair.

no those are after the hail damage

i'll get some better pics tomorrow of the hail damage
, most of it is on the roof.
I'll find out next week what buyback is but if someone wants this ride let me know what you'll offer and i'll let you know.

Maybe $4k?

imo that's too much.
mainly cus of the mileage.

it is only worth buying back if you intended to keep it a few more years (250k miles) id say 1200$ or less only because of the aftermarket parts. If you get to put it back to stock before the insurance people take it, i would just let it go. you can always take the money sell your parts and buy another car.

it is hard to sell a "salvage title car" and dealers are not taking any old trade like they use to.

I would defimitely advise you to remove the aftermarket items if you dont intend on keeping it. Buy back for most insurance companies is 20-30%. So, if you intend on keeping it, you might not want want to mention aftermarket parts. That being said, you're gambling either way. Most imsurance will be writing PDR if you're damage is lighter. I would let your agent or the adjuster know that you don't want it to be totaled out. You might get a little les money but keep it v from being a salvage title. Then use the money from the check to sweeten thr sale. Some insurance companies won't give a salvage title for hail if the age is greater than 7 years. But most of this depends on locallaws and regulations. Take some better pictures of the damage. I fix hail for a living.

it was quoted at $4400 worth of damage from the adjuster. They already took pics of it as it sits. I'll take the wheels and swap suspension if i do total it out. But i already sold the old bumper so that's a no go :(

Does 4400 total it out? If not, I would knock of 3000 off your asking price and pocket the difference. Your estimate seems pretty high for the damage, the only quesrionable dent I see is the one on the right rear door. And by questionable, it may need conventional repair. How much are you asking?
I'll be down working in Phoenix next week.

Dude.. I'd take it as is........... I wish it was manual because I would love to supercharge an avant instead of a sedan haha

i was only asking $4200 for it , yes the $4400 did total it out got the call today.
I'm asking $2500 for it if i buy it back. i'm still waitng on the exact buyback figure but it cant be more than $2500

Buy back will be 1500-1800

10-23-2010, 05:13 PM
sweet , the state farm guy was guessing around $2000

10-23-2010, 05:18 PM
damn how was that 4400 in damages? I'm guessing it's because there's a dent on the roof? The hood and doors are pretty inexpensive to replace. ~1000 for a new cf hood and probably no more than 150 for a used doorframe from the junkyards and maybe another 150 to paint.

10-23-2010, 05:24 PM
well if you look at the hood their are spots where the clear cracked away. so thats a new paint on the hood. and the r.r door cracked the paint to the metal so there is a door and paint but not a junk yard prices so .

I guess I was expecting holes in the windshield, things on fire, and other sorts of catastrophic damage. Thank goodness it's not major.

Whats book on you car? My guess is 5-6k so buy back for 6 shouldnt be more than 1800.
