View Full Version : Loud Motor?

Anyone have any idea why my motor is soo loud? It sounds like a ticking, almost as if I need my Valves adjusted... but since they are hydraulic, i know thats not the problem.. i changed the oil already full synthetic... but still nothing.. PLEASE HELP!!! =D and yes i am running 91 octane.. haha =D

i think thats just the electronic variable valve timing that how they are

year, mileage and date of last timing belt and water pump service. Also what weight engine oil are you using?

Checked oil level...looked good.. just changed my oil like 2 weeks ago... Oil was 5w30 Castrol Synthec... I also checked my timing belt.. looks like its ready for replacement!! wow.. year is 98... mileage now is 105,000 wow.. i abuse her too... havent checked water pump, but timing belt needs replacement.. THANKS FOR ALL THE INPUT GUYS! I appreciate it alot!!

Don't forget to change the tensioner.

hit up ecs and ge their timing belt kit. its like 250 or something. that will take care of everything you should need

Yeah, I picked up the Ultimate Timing Belt Kit from ECS. Had everything I needed in it.

you should def. order the kit through them. i had an estimate given to me by a mechanic saying the parts for the job alone would cost 750 bucks... i laughed in his face and yelled bullshit. im not allowed in that shop anymore but thats ok consdierng howmuch of a rip-off they were trying to be. this forum is very informative in many aspects but pricing for parts is key. you will learn here that many jobs can be done at half the cost if you take the time to purchase the parts yourself, which you would be a fool for not doing

My motor has been louder now that i put on my skiplate.(belly pan).
