I don't normally do these build threads because they take so much damn time and because you always have to go and take pictures as things are going in and you have to update all the time.. ugh. Well I promised a friend that I would make a thread on my car so here it is.

The list of mods expected as for now:

-A modified ARD with brand new GT 2873 HTA turbo, still the tial Vband housing.
-3" downpipes modified by AMD to have dual QTP electric exhaust dumps.
-No longer am I using the VAST custom twin disk clutch, I put that clutch in my silver car and had an issue that is going to be resolved, I'm going with a CM 850 high rate spring/ ceramic twin-disk.
-83mm Wiesco pistons by AMD
-IE rods.
-Close to aquiring 2.4L heads and RS4 heads, we will see what happens.
-Supertech Valves and Springs (not oversized)
-2.8L cams (for now)
-Rebuilt Tranny with a custom 1st and 2nd gear (changed ratios to 2.7 first gear, and 1.75 second gear)
-AMD 19 Row custom RS4 bumper intercoolers,
-AMD 2.75" inlets
-RS4 intake manifold and all other RS4 parts.
-Stock ECU.
-AMD fueling and breather system
-Aquamist Methonal with custom tank mount
-Single muffler 3.5" AMD exhaust.
-Nitrous Express instaboost nitrous controller with nano kit to ensure consistency.
-Mental Custom engine mount brakets supported by stern tranny and engine mounts.

Goals: (numbered in importance)
1. As reliable as possible to make trips to FL and back.
2. Mid 4sec 60-130
3. 9 sec ET and low 150's mph trap in the 1/4 mile
4. 200mph in the standing mile

To my brother hunter for helping me out and driving my shizzle around when I couldn't. Everytime he has my car he clay-bars it and waxes it. Best big brother I could ever have.

I will not have the answer to everyone's questions, I will not always be able to immediately update this thread. You can comment on my mistakes or mis quotes but please do not whore or troll this thread unless its guru because I already started the smack talk (I'm trying to keep swearing out of this thread as well).
Enjoy the pictures, and Let the thread begin!

In my next engine, I wont do a girdle again, too much of a pain for ther hours invested in the engine.

We have proof at the shop now that a goo machined 3.0L without girdle will survive normal track abuse...

So much a pain leak wise, too, we had to remove the upper pan 3 times.

Yeah if it was something that was under 1000chp I wouldn't have done it probably but I want it to break some sort of record when its done.. IDK I hope your shop can prove me different but I will stick with this for now. Where's the LSX at? hows it coming?

Really lost interest in the project, it'S on a shelf for the moment.

I'm just finishing my DD B6 avant swapped with a Tip 4.2

I'm gathering part at the moment to build back a V6 single Turbo on a fixed budget but faster than my car was. I will work on this this winter.

The V8 may end up in my Boat, lol

HA! right!. I think it will be 2ish weeks before it is ready for the break in cruising. Then it goes under the knife at Pande's again. I'm excited to see where it can go with him. He brings a lot to the table that domestic/jdm guys are doing that isn't even on our radar yet. I'm also happy to see VAST and Pande working together and helping each other out. Its been a wonderful experience to do this build. Other than being in debt for the third time in two years of course lol..

That may be true, but I haven't seen an APB engine with my set up and nitrous on top of it all either. I just want to be sure I've done everything to prevent any problem from happening.

No its not as simple as throwing it on there you have to shimmy spacers you have to make sure everything seals right, you have to completely change the oil pan you have to alter the oil pump location, etc. it is a headache if you really don't need it. and unless you're making BIG power you don't need it. Some say you don't ever need it because it is a 4 bolt main. Either way it is a lot of money to install and a lot of work if you install it.

*Blue-Angel*
10-18-2010, 05:48 PM
mmm thats a bummer. I would be installing it myself. I have it sitting on my shelf in the garage. Basically bought it just to do everything I could all at once and build the bottom end as strong as possible so I would never have an issue with it.

10-19-2010, 07:26 AM
Oh, yep. The Excel DFI has both anti-lag and a progressive nitrous controller that you can adjust added fuel for the nitrous and change the amount of boost at 3 different RPM stages that I could ever want to launch at. I can launch at 2600 rpm making 8 psi. which is easier on parts.

Nice build man! Do your turbos have the smaler gt28r comp housing? If so, is it because of the packaging constraints? I am running the "original" Vast equal length headers and I only have space for the smaller comp housings. GT28rs with the 28r housing is what I am gonna fit in the tight space. Have you thought about a different cam setup other than the 2.8s? The big intake is def a must for what your doing. NOICE!

To my understanding with the ARD kit you do not have to limit the size of your turbo to the 28r comp housing. In that matter, No mine is not the smaller housing It is the larger 2860 housing with the HTA centersection and a tial V-band exhaust side.

Europowerhaus
10-20-2010, 05:48 AM
Oh, because I thought the larger 2860rs housing had a non-bolted compressor outlet. It looks like yours has 3 bolts...? Either way its gonna be sick.

TweetsS4Estate
10-20-2010, 08:14 AM
Yes it is the same housing. But the housing is ported to fit the HTA wheel in it. These turbos are supposed to flow 47lbs a minute.

UPDATE TIME, well kinda. I'm still making a list of parts that were lost due to the car traveling to different shops and what not. BUT in the mean time I took some better pictures of the heads and some pictures of the custom 1-2 gears scotty made for me. I took pictures showing where my sub box/amplifier went for the gentleman who asked me where it went. I also have some better pictures of that B8 S4 I got to vallet next to my car last week. enjoy!

Nothing as of yet. If Jason doesn't get back to me soon I'm just going to run stock IC's to break it in and then have Pande make a set to integrate with a Water to air cooling loop as well. Hey, would you mind meeting up soon so I can log your car and tweak it and we could maybe put one of those amazing home depot bumper lips on the silver bomber?[:)] lol

Quick question on custom gears.

When installing 6th gear, did you get just the gear or is there a matching gear that needs to go on the other shaft? I just fail at imagining how slapping a smaller/larger diameter gear in would work without gears not engaging anymore....

Thanks.

I wasn't Directly involved when they were at roush. BUT to my understanding they touched under the valves just a bit. I made sure they knew I needed all the midrange I could get, especially to get the best spool.

How much for that custom clutch ?

I'll let Reid post a definite price but I'm pretty sure retail is $2,500.00... Haven't had a customer who wanted to drop so much coin on a clutch yet... The pedal effort is supposed to be easier than a B7 A4 stock clutch, and 9.5" is the largest you can go on the S4.

I guess we will see, I wouldn't call it a fail just yet though, it seems that there are a lot of clutches out there in a similar price range that aren't holding power very well, and being a 9.5" setup it might be that much better. For now I will be a guinnea pig but if it doesn't work I will let you know and move on. I'm also not sure if I'm going to stick with these turbos for good as well. I will get the dyno numbers and see what kind of n20 shot it takes to achieve 1000wheeel and take it from there. I think mike is right though I was wrong on your thread I believe it is 2.5k. My guess is that they won't, the 770s are used on other cars too, with larger hotsides, and they all max out around 700whp. Just not enough turbine flow.

Like I said we will see. How are you enjoying your car? What boost map are you on?

Only on 22psi right now. Still 530whp though. I need to fix a bunch of issues that were left over and get the car back to EPL so they can finish the tune.

Thanks, the wheels need to be re-finished, but other than that it cleaned up well before I shipped it. I'm excited to get it back running! I believe in Jason and his shop, I am confident it will be a wonderful car to drive. He is supposed to get it ready for pick up by the week of the 4th so if anyone feels like coming out I can keep people posted../

Not a whole lot to update on the yellow car. BUT the silver car was finished according to Pande's standards. Which meant a rear main seal leak as well as multiple other leaks. The evap system is somehow crippled to the point to where all of a sudden my car won't allow gas to go into the gas tank, and if the M80 valve is hooked up correctly it goes crazy rich after 20 seconds of running. So jason is going to give it a once over, put an aquamist kit in, tune it for 92 and E85 (35psi!!!) and return it.. hopefully the VAST stage 4 clutch can hold it. I'm so excited and we're hoping for a two week turn around, assuming the car isn't totally whored out. So stay posted for E85 3.0L 605 dyno videos in the next two weeks! Frankenturbo lovers who argue they are on par to 605s might get their world rocked... I guess we will see.

How is the silver car coming along? That was supposed to be finished a little while ago right? yeah, it had a goofy evap issue after getting it back from Pande's. Jason figured that it and had sundeep break it in. Then he threw it on the dyno with my old exhaust to get a good file from tiny in the works (I sold the old exhaust, Jason is putting his exhaust on it). There might be some other issues from Pande to fix but thigs are looking good. The exhaust should be on it today or tomorrow and we will see how it goes. To my knowledge it made some good power on only 19psi I'm told it made quite a bit more tq than hp which is also cool. I'm anxious to see if the stage 4 vast clutch can hold big power.... And that's where it stands.

This was in another thread, but I wonder what the real story is.. I haven't heard from Reid since he told me his motor was 30psi low right before Waterfest. Adam from the Detroit area said headgasket but it must be a little more involved than that..

For those of you that didn't know. Sector7 is potentially jason@amd after blowing up tweets motor and not being able to get any of his suposid high hp cars out of the 12's I can see why he needs to bash JHM. What little busniess he has is now over.

Lol, oh is that what happened Jfunkey? Never thought I could have someone inform me about myself.
What happened was simple. When I did my 1/4 mile pull My heads (both just to be clear) were lifting. On that pull on the 92 + meth file which made around 50awftlbs/50awhp less than 93 + meth (Tony's dyno) it still trapped over 130mph with a 2.6 60ft! So you tell me funkey, that sound slow to you? And that was when it was misfiring! Anyways, I took it to EPL to see what was wrong and to maybe fix it then tune it. It isnt Tony's fault that the car was already hurt, but in my mind, we could have looked into it for sufficiently before tuning . He though it was my cam adjuster having issues, because when it was losing power the passenger intake cam went a few degrees off for 700ish rpm. I pulled it off the dyno and it misfired worse, they thought it was coil packs (easy write off and made sense at the time). So they helped a little, I was stuck having to drive the car back to VA because of work the next day. To be fair neither of us thought "headgaskets" (mainly because we were distracted by the low oil pressure light) so it is just as my h my fault as I is theirs for not catching it. Anyways start putting out fires I had an oil pressure switch go bad and a few other things, then I get it home to MI and check the compression, every cylinder is down a minimum of 30psi and i have a lot of condensation in the oil AND I keep loosing coolant. So now Jason is paying to have the car shipped back to him where he is fixing it on his dime. He is a good guy to work with if you ask me. I will still recommend him to anyone (whether he take the work on or not is one thing). He is one of the most stand-up guys I have ever worked with and has never steered me wrong without taking responsibility not backed it. That is what happened and what is happening. Straight cut and the right moves by Jason. Also, jason does not have an alter-ego username, sorry dude, wrong again.

What's the deal with the rumor about him closing up shop though?

I guess that's the nature of rumors: they get repeated and take on a life of their own. Somebody might have noticed AMD's website currently redirects to AvivaInstruments (a business partner (http://www.avivainstruments.com/partnerships)) and jumped to conclusions. However, I just dropped off my GT turbos and several boxes of parts & materials at AMD this past Saturday, so I'm pretty sure he's not closing up the shop.

It's quite the opposite. He has gone in with Seņor Bravo on making performance kits/parts and couldn't market AMD in Europe because there already is someone with the same initials AMD. They are actually gearing up to answer the phone and what not. The new venture should be rocking and rolling before years end! There are a lot of cool stuff that they will be offering other platforms one being their B7 RS4 supercharger kit.

Not to mention the awesome twin turbo r8 they are working on! Glad you cleared up whatever jfunk was saying tweet. I have no patience for people who speak for someone else when they have not heard directly from the story-source. I heard of someone else trying to say how my brother was upset that I spent all of this money only to have a barely faster than a K04 S4. Last time I checked there aren't any meth + 92 octane K04 S4s running 130s let alone ones that are injured. Some people just want to make up stories I guess. Hunter drove my car for a week and loved it and you will never hear him trash talk Jason. I really think there is something to learn from every significant person in this industry. The AMD's, JHM's etc all have very smart people just trying to make fast cars. Every one of them say brilliant things most of the time and dumb things every once in a while. It's just the way it is.
