i was wondering if auto leveling headlights are self contained or do they need to be plugged into the cars computer in order to work? i have a pre facelift a4 with the TWO piece lights and wanted to get oem ONE piece from an s4, the guy selling the lights told me that they have auto leveling, and i just wanted to make sure that they would work properly with my car.
also, does anyone know where i could buy something like this: http://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B5_A4-Quattro-1.8T/Search/Wiring_Harness/ES86/ but cheaper? $60 seems like a lot for something like that :P

Autoleveling has motors in the headlights, sensors on the left front and rear suspension, and a control unit. If you leave the motors unplugged then they will operate like your old headlights in that they can be adjusted via the screw but they won't adjust themselves. I installed a manual level control in mine so that I can operate the level motors via a knob. Search for headlight range adjustment for that thread.
