Hi ,

I now have some problems with speedometer thats not working anymore. About 2 months ago it was starting to stop once in a while and now it just doesn't wotk anymore. I checked both of my wires and they are all ok. I checked with the multimeter in resistance and both of my wires are ok , the brown to the ground is good and the brown/red that goes to the cluster too is good.

I have vag-com so I did the output test for the cluster and everything is alright , needle moves perfectly with no hesitation. I went to audi to buy a sensor it was pretty cheap (40$) i replaced it and it still doesn't work.

I am now out of ideas , the only thing I could think of is the wheel or rotor in the transmission thats broken or moved.

Thanks for help im tired of rolling without speedo it makes me nervous.

is your odometer working??
I hope it's not the case, but this happened to me... the metal ring that spins on the drive shaft that the magnetic sensor picks up had disintegrated - quite rare - but a real fuck around! I drained my trans fluid a some metal shavings and teeth dropped out. That's how I knew. Maybe try that first. Unfort, if that's the case, you can't get to it in the car. The trans has to be removed... opened, put back together and dumped baqck in the car... all for a $25 part! I wouldn't recommend driving it until you know whats gojng on... you don't want some loose metal running through your gears!
I really hope that's not the problem mate, but it's definitely a possibility.

I think that's my problem cause the odometer is not working but everything is fine. The only thing i didn't check is the metal ring inside the tranny and its cause i just cant look ak it. Anyways I need to change my clutch pretty soon so im going to take a look at that when i'll take off the tranny. WHere did you bought that part ? At the stealer ? Thanks

I'm in australia mate, but I had a tranny specialist take it apart and replace after I took it out. Def do your clutch at the same time (I did my clutch a week before!!).
Even from audi it was a very cheap part. Just labour thats a real pain.
