I am looking for an adapter such as this one to connnect directly at the back of my Symphony radio.
I have a 2001 so the CD changer isn't pre-wired, so I dont mind loosing that connection as I dont use it anyway.

This is for plugging my Ipod and Cellular + other MP3 device other bring, so only an Ipod connector would not be that usefull, therefore I am looking for an AUX in only!

I dont think that wil work for these radios I think that for one that already has the aux in function.

I am going to get one of these eventually it replicates the cd changer so you can have an aux in

Thats cool. I'd like to use that until I'm ready to do a RNS-E swap. Thanks for posting!

We'll, I bought it! This connector look very similar to a portion of the CD changer connector. For 10$ I'll give it a try! I'll let you know if it work.

I think you may need the red, yellow and green adapter in order to utilize that cable.

I installed a Digital CD Changer like this
http://www3.telus.net/~dougkong/Audi/CDchanger.jpg
that plugs into the cd changer port on the back of your stock stereo with a connector that looks exactly like the one pictured above in combination with the red, yellow and green adapter. It also has an aux input to hook up any 1/8 inch source. The head unit thinks that a CD changer is installed so you take an SD card and load it up into 6 directories with up to 99 mp3s in each folder. You can fast forward and rewind with the head unit's controls which is what I was looking for. I installed mine in my glove compartment and can access it on the fly. It's a great alternative to getting an Enfig adapter, getting an Ipod, then getting holder for the Ipod. I didn't want to have to invest in all that hardware so I went this route and it all looks completely stock. I think I paid around 100USD shipped to my door.

OMG guys... FNK you're fine. It'll work just fine! Just keep the MP3 device volume at 50% and use the radio volume from there (just a good rule of thumb for clarity)

The yellow and green in the Blitzsafe kit are literally just extensions........ I believe they are for the phone and nav... which I guarantee he doesn't have either.

The nice thing about the Blitzsafe is it converts your iPod's output to a line level input so it will not distort but if you adjust the volume it should sound fine.

I'm just going by experience and from this picture

http://www3.telus.net/~dougkong/Audi/Symphonyrear.jpg

beside the CD changer control socket circled in red (which is the blue connector on this picture),

http://www.continentalimports.com/images/cable_897.jpg

is the line out for your rear speakers/OEM amp, remote turn on for the amp and whatever else is in the center connector. If you remove the socket from the back of the head unit shaped like this

http://www3.telus.net/~dougkong/Audi/connector.JPG

and just replace it with this

http://www3.telus.net/~dougkong/Audi/CDConnector.JPG

then how are you going to get the rest of the plug (Option and Line-out) connected to the head unit? With the red, yellow and green extension adapter as mentioned in my previous post. With just installing the blue connector and nothing else, you will only get sound out of your front speakers. Make sense?

Great, a stupid buy, and this is probably why no one else sold such thing...

But isn't that connector the Pre-wired cd-changer? And since 2000+ they do not pre-wire them? So that connector is actually empty?

Edit: It seems to be more difficult than previously taught

I have a 2001.5 and in the back of the car where the jack is kept there is a round connector that is a pre wired CD changer cable but that doesn't make a difference to you because you are connecting directly to the back of the head unit bypassing that cable all together. Now I don't know what the protocol is for you to be able to switch from CD to CDC on the head unit or what the head unit needs to see in order to be able to use that function. It may only be a small voltage to trigger it to turn on from the music playing on your unit. The only way is to try. Once you receive your cable in the mail, try it out and see if you get sound by disconnecting the large black connector in the above picture and inserting your new cable with the blue connector to that one side. Turn on your MP3 player or iPod and click the CDC button and see if it will let you. If you do get sound, it will come from the front speakers. If everything works great then go on eBay and buy one of these.

and you will have sound to all four speakers after you install it in conjunction with your new cable. Let us know how you do. Good luck.
