Hey guys, i'm thinking about selling my pre-facelift aeb and buying a 99.5 aeb.

I have enought money to buy the 99.5, without selling the 97 first.

I want to transfer the goodies from my 97 to the 99.5, and then resell my 97 as stock

My question is, would my 91 octane giac flashed ecu be swappable with the 99.5's ecu??

The ecu code for the 97 is "8D0907557N"
the 99.5 is "8D0907557P"

Thank you

To be able to run a 99.5 ecu on a AEB you would have to transfer the entire wiring harness, boost sensor, new TB DBW,a wide band sensor, and I believe the cluster (not sure on that one) the 97 aeb ecu is a me3.9 or a me5.8 ..while the 99.5 ecu is a me7. The harness doesn't have all the extentions to run all the sensors and funtions.

99.5 is not DBW, my God people. Its AEB DBC.

Yes the 97 ECU works without any recoding.

Both work ... Just looked on the giac site.

remember that we need the Immo to work. Tom, Is important to know if the ecu is Me 5.8 or Me7.

I believe it won't work. I have to check my car and tell you what I have.. I remember that my can wouldn't run the "P" computer and it ran the "N". But my car is a hybrid

dude, I am telling you as a GIAC dealer that it won't work..

Then you are a fucking retarded GIAC dealer.. I own a 99.5 and its DBC and I had a 97 ECU in my car for awhile as a spare and it worked for months.. I think you are the one who needs to learn more about the cars. Maybe in PR its me7, which I doubt, but anywhere else the AEB's are ALL DBC and 99.5 is still DBC.

k thnx

All AEBs are DBC.
ME7 is DBW.
Get it now?

As a Giac dealer, I recommend you edit your posts to save some poor soul coming across this thread and taking your post for truth.

And OP, If you're buying another B5. Just get an 01 (which is DBW, ME7, native wideband). Going AEB 99.5 just to keep your tune is shortsighted.

Sorry I made the mistake of 99.5 to 00 dbw. But is you read my post I mention me7 and me5.8. If the ecu is a me5.8 then it should fit.

I apologize to whom I might have mislead but they is no need to insult calling me a fucking retard.. that is not acceptable

Its the frustration of people who come in and post, then someone actually posts something that is right and knows what they are talking about and the same people come in and tell you that you are wrong. I dont know everything, but I know a WHOLE bunch about my car and this platform. I dont post a ton on here anymore due to the fact that the platform isnt advancing anymore like it was 2 years ago and even last year (on this site). The past year has been a bunch of mislead answers, people who read shit with no experience and post like what they say is set in stone, etc.

I do apologize for you calling you a fucking retard... But 99.5 never came ME7, all AEB's are ME5 and the ECU's swap out. You do not need to recode an auto ecu for a manual but you need to recode a manual for an auto or p/r/n/d/3/2/1/ wont show up on the cluster.

About swapping your tune, I think that is up to the shop and they will charge you like 50-75 bucks for the time.

Thanks for all the great responses guys. Sorry that this thread turned out to be a bit of a fuss.
But yes the 99.5 is an aeb..and the reason why i chose to go for a 99.5 rather than a 00 or 01 is because of the strong 058 block/internals on the aeb head.
Not to mention that after 2 years of reading up on aebs..we kinda nest into them and know every problem/ solution.

So the 97 ECU will be plug and play into the 99.5...this leads me to ask...did all the facelift features work properly?(black99.5)

there arent any "features".. if you mean the drivers display. my car didnt even have it, i had to swap the dash harness but kept my normal ECU and it works 100%.. the ecu's all function the same. :)
