View Full Version : two questions

question number 1:
on my 99 A4 (it's the old cluster). the trip odometer is changing from miles to "service oil". i checked the oil and it's fine, so i'm assuming this is just a reminder for an oil change (i got one from the dealer 6,000 miles ago, and from someone else 500 miles ago). do i need a VAG COM to reset it or can i just go to Autozone and have them clear it with the OBD II?

question number 2:
i'm on a very tight budget when it comes to my car. i want to lower it. i have seen people selling stock sport suspensions on this and other boards for as low as $100. how much of a drop will this give me? i don't ever plan on racing, i just want it to be dropped a bit.

1: You can do it yourself. Check your manual it's in there. You have to pull out the nob or push it in and then turn the ignition on and then do something else and it goes away. I don't remember exactly.

2: I think sport suspension drops the car about 3/4 of an inch.

Here fanuvbrack, procedure to reset oil light, give this a try:

To reset the OIL message on the speedometer display, turn off the ignition. Press and hold the button on the left side of the display while turning the ignition on. Service OIL will be displayed. Pull out the button on the right side of the display until the service prompt is cleared. The display should now read ---.
If this procedure does not work, follow this procedure: With the ignition off, push the right button. Turn the ignition on and then pull the left button. This should clear the warning message.

just wait to get an aftermarket suspension, you will regret it and go on aw on the tech section, the steps are there to help you remove your service oil reminder

Stock sport suspension is a 1" drop over standard stock.
