Well a little bit of backstory for those who dont know. So I recently installed a RP k04 with software, HFC, etc...Had it running good for about a month and then smoke started seeping out the exhaust at idle, I thought it could be a head gasket. I got the compression results and everything looked fine, not a head gasket according to a shop I took it to. Well last week the whole car just flopped, lost all power, and mountains of smoke came pouring out the exhaust, had to get towed home. Upon further investigation, it appears the turbo has gone bad, I have not received news on how. Well of course I will have to replace the turbo (I will likely be going BW this time around), BUT, my question is should I just replace it with another k04? I was happy with the gains while it lasted, but am contemplating other options if there is something better. I am on a tight budget being a junior in college, but all opinions are welcome.

Who did you buy it from? Is it possible there may be a warranty on it? If not and your happy with the performance of the K04 then I would go with an OEM unit.

I got the RP from ecs and once I find out exactly what went wrong, I'll be checking on the warranty.

Definetely check to see if there is one. You don't want to have to shell out more money.

^ If only, my budget is pretty limited. If I get my money back, would it be worth just replacing it with another RP, or should I just suck it up and go BW?
