What kind of floor jack are you guys using? Since I lowered my car I think mine is going to be too tall. Just wanted to see what you guys were using.

I've got a low-profile Craftsman jack that has worked well on all my lowered cars. It was cheap and has lasted years. I've heard good things about some of the light-weight aluminum ones as well if you have more money to blow :)

a lot of people will say this. I've got one as well. My car can be too low for the jack though, so I just roll it up on 2x4's before getting the jack under it.

went through 3 craftsman which all died after about 6 months. Finally bought a cheaper harbor freight.

Went this route too. Wait for a sale, and you'll get one at a really good price. hey have deals on them quite often.

I think the HF ones suck...they leak and then can't even lift the car.
Upgraded to a Craftsman and have not had any issues.
*Always use jack stands too...never trust a jack to hold up the car, even for a tire change.

yup, I was the opposite. Went through 3 craftsman before going to harbor freight. Pretty sure they're all made in the same place.

I got the low-profile jack from Harbour Freight but its still to big so i built a set of roll up ramps to give me that extra space to fix my jack under.

craftsman is garbage..i have some no name jack i bought from costco a while ago which is pretty heavy duty and low profile...i still have to use a hockey puck with the jack to lift my car bc i have carbon fiber sideskirts...
the good thing about craftsman is that if you break it and keep the receipt, you can get it replaced for free

Depending on where you go, some don't honor that anymore on non hand tools. They replaced my first two jacks, but wouldn't touch the third.

Honestly any jack less than $100 made in china is probably pretty similar if not just a different paint scheme.. pony up for a real aluminum one or replace the shitty chinese ones every couple years..

^I don't buy that statement one bit, I've had the same cheap, less than $60 jack for 2-1/2 years and have used it consistently on both an A6 and A4.

I'm still just using a cheap Craftsman 2 1/2 ton jack and jack stands that I got as a package ages ago. Like 'Dirty', I have to drive my car up on 2x6s to get the jack under the car.

Has anyone here used the aluminum jacks? I know they are pricey, but do they hold up to use?

That's a nice set up for drive up ramps for that extra space. I have a 3ton Craftsman that fit before my car settled and no longer fits. I'll have to build something similar.

I have the craftsman 3 ton now. Got the whole kit from sears. Came with jack, two jack stands and creeper. No problems here and I like the craftsman warranty too. It doesn't exactly fit under my car anymore since I got lowered but all I do is put a piece of wood on front wheel and lift it. Not much trouble after that.
