So i was driving home tonight, downshifted for a few turns, upshifted from second to third to forth, clutched in to stop for a stoplight, and couldnt engage first to continue through the intersection. Immediately after, I smelt clutch. I pulled over, turned the car off and pumped the clutch a bit (maybe a bad idea, it was kind of instinctual) the clutch petal felt super soft untill almost the floor where it felt a bit spongy. when letting it out, there was little/no resistance. with the car off, I could select gears, with the car on and clutch in, I'd have to force it. at first it wouldnt go, second try it did click in but i was afraid to let out the clutch to see if the car would actually move.
so how bad did i mess up my car... what am i looking at replacing.. and how much is this mishap going to set me back...

shut it off and put it in first. if you can drive and not slip its sounds like its just a slave cylinder. dont force it into gear or let it grind.

Even getting it into gear, I can't engage the clutch so it even grabs... I can't drive it

this isnt a sometimes problem, something is definitely broken... the clutch is stuck in a permanently disengaged position

its because 1st gear is not a syncronized gear like 2-6 are occasionally you have to let the car ''fall'' into gear (rolling an inch or two)
what skyora did sounds like its something very serious, or it could just be a cable snapped off either way get it to a mechanic and i would not recommend starting it or revving it or messing with the clutch at all

Alright, so bit of an update. the car goes into gear with a little bit of pressure. however the clutch petal feels all gimped up. when releasing the clutch , it will slowly grab, so the car will move. I moved it around the lot it was in but it reaked of clutch... so... should I limp it to the shop (about 2 1/2 miles away) or get it towed. I'm fairly certain the clutch needs to be replaced, but will i screw up anything else if i attempt the trip.

Some of these threads make me laugh. I sure hope you don't have a clutch cable.
Can you imagine how annoying it will be when you get 1 mile down the road and the car becomes completely undrivable? Then you have to get the car pulled over and wait for a tow truck.
I can't tell you what is wrong with it from your description, but I can tell you that if it were either of the cylinders the clutch would be stuck mated to the flywheel and you wouldn't be smelling clutch. Something is wrong. If you have to ask, you should probably just get it towed.
