Greetings AZ!! It has been a while... So the car has been acting weird, and I need to get this under control, below is a list (not all inclusive) of symptoms I can think of right now, please ask questions and give some comments, I am flying blind at this point....
1. After start up, surging up to 1100 RPM until a throttle blip, bad throttle response until I perform #4
2. cold start-up, cant get past 14-15 PSI, hit the gas and get varying boost levels from 12-15 PSI, again and again... then all the sudden the car takes off like a bat outa hell and it builds boost up to 19-21.
3. Definite change in tone of exhaust until i floor it out of vacuum into boost and recieve a little blow off (my intake is a cone with mandrel bent tube going to turbo) So no DV being recirculated.
4. Surging/horrible throttle response, again until i build boost and let off. **> The next time i go and hit the gas, good response.. this happens frequently
5. Periodic burning of oil to the point that I need to add oil
6. Inconsistent power output on the highway, floor it, not good boost, let it blow off, floor it again, good boost.
7. New symptom of slight misfires when it feels like its running well.
8. Sometimes when I hit it in 1st, I get power I don't usually, its like a tease![headbang]
Being Said, this problem was there but not as bad with the Ko3, cleaned my DV and reinstalled. Performed boost test a few months ago, same symptoms at that time, no resulting boost leak. I had brought the car in about a year ago to replace the PCV and coil pack recall (Audi dealership)... NOTHING..
The varying exhaust tone is a tell tale sign that I need to floor it and some how "reset" what has gone wrong by building PSI out of vacuum into boost and letting it vent off, after that no surging ect....
I am concerned that it may be my waste-gate due to the correlation to the exhaust (sounds less restrictive, deeper, LOUD, gurgle like??), surging, and lack of power/ability to build boost fast.. HOWEVER.. once boost begins to kick in out of vacuum it reaches peak like normal.. Its like I am sitting on the gas waiting for it to hit boost, then let off 1/2 throttle once it gets to that point...
This thing is a 3 year and counting project.. Unfortunately I don't have the patience to begin replacing parts with my fingers crossed hoping it will cure the problem..
SUGGESTIONS? [o_o]
If anyone is around the DC area and is willing to help me out with some data-logging (if it will help), it would be much so appreciated!
BTW, haven't put up pics in about a year lol, so here is a little teaser.. N' yes, I know.. Black out the rings (deer hit the last set off, along with the old hood)..
