If I lower my a4 and put one inch bigger wheels on it will the ride still be as smooth? And about how much does it cost to lower it?

Wow nothing, clearly this person is new to this so why not be helpful...

To OP, your questions have many answers. Basically though, the ride will be less smooth, or less "plush" the lower you go and the bigger your wheels (tire sidewall gets smaller, absorbs less road imperfections). Depending on preference though, many people prefer sacrificing some "smooth" ride in exchange for much tighter handling. As well, many coilover kits still offer quite smooth damper settings to make it very comfortable as a daily driver.

Lowering can cost just a few hundred for some springs to a 1000+ for a coilover setup.

Best is do some research and read up on testimonials to get a good idea of whats out there. Hope this helped..

my advice, and most people on here will agree: Lower first, and lower with coilovers. If you do wheels first, you will regret it because it will look very awkward. If you do shocks and springs, yo uwill be happy for a while, then crave to be even lower, so the adjustability of the coilovers is helpful.

Seems like a lot of the 3+ ringers have been around so long they're just tired of seeing the same questions over and over again. Can't blame them I guess. 2 Ringers have been around long enough to have learned the basics but aren't jaded enough to flame the noobs.

That said, the 'tude has worked on me so far - I'm terrified of asking a question without thorough research first.

with bigger wheels the ride will not be as smooth. spring install runs about 150-200, depending on where you live.

what new to life?
i mean maybe it's just me but isn't it pretty much a given that with any sort of lowering your spring rates will most likely be different than stock giving you a stiffer ride?
and adding an inch to wheel diameter means less tire...which then in turn means less rubber on the road...thus taking away some of the smoothness?
maybe they are new to car modding i dont know but in that case i would suggest a little more independent research...
and im aware that this is a place to gain knowledge on this sort of thing but im willing to bet that its somewhere on this forum already...

oh and if you are still looking at getting those ASA's forget about it lol you can find something better out there trust me...just keep looking

Check AZ classifieds too. If you get luck and find some local - or find someone willing to ship - you can save.

These right here look pretty sweet: http://www.audizine.com/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=41119&title=vmr-7105x11219x8-5-2c-et45-2c-hyper-silver-&cat=48

ASA? sounds like something you catch after a wild night in Cabo San Lucas. Not quite what I want when it comes to the things holding my car on the road.

Good price and quality? Go Rotiform
