View Full Version : Daytime running lights? Or the smallest light

I'm a little confused on what this light bulb is called but i have a set of halogens and the smallest light bulb we have that is turned on when the light switch is turned to the city light switch it turned on. I'm looking to upgrade them to 6000k HID's and I've seen some pictures around of them and they look really good but I dont know what the lights are called or what size they are? Are they h7's light the headlights or are they h11's like the fogs?
Its kind of hard to search for something that you dont know the name of lol, so please excuse my ignorance and a I appreciate your help.

Dude those are the w5w/194 wedge bulbs. They do not make HIDs for them. They do make LEDs or super white wedge bulbs though.
Ohh and they are the city lights.

hmm alright, are they considered the DRL's on halogen headlights? I guess overall, what is considered the Daytime running lights, i know halogens dont have them and i have halogens so i guess I'm just a little confused here. Appreciate you guys not flaming me lol im a little dumb sometimes.

I didn't know the B7 came with DRLs. I thought the only thing close was the headlight switch with Auto functions, but I could be wrong. Those would be considered the city lights (or running lights, as they come on with the first click of the headlight switch). DRLs are lights that come on automatically whenever you drop the handbrake, which I don't think our cars do (but I could be wrong). I'm pretty sure they don't have DRLs on the halogen versions, though.

Halogens didn't come with DRL function. Only the Bi/Xenons.

The only light thats on for my car when its daytime are the foglights.

That’s not possible with OEM bi-xenon or halogen.
Bi-xenon DRL=1156 bulb in the reflector bowl closes to the grill
Halogen DRL=front fogs, front amber (for non euro setting), front citylight(small wedge bulb in the reflector bowl near the grill) all rear lights and plate light.
OP: the bulb you want to change is indeed the citylight bulb, the size is 194 wedge type.

Don't spend so much on the ecs ones. Just read this thread and buy the ones from ebay for 10 bucks. Im ordering them as soon a my paypal has some money in it. :)

is there a way to put the city lights on with the parking lights, and then have the fogs on...you can pull the switch out but for some reason the fogs dont turn on for me
