I would like to upgrade my fog lights to HIDs and had a couple of questions. I plan on getting the slim ballast kit from DDM Tuning. Question for you guys is, when you installed it. Did you drill a hole into the cap so that the bulb can go through? Or did you just leave the cap off?

What cap are you talking about?

I have a B6 but im assuming theyre nearly identical... the fogs are a direct fit there is no cap that needs to be drilled you just secure the bulb in just like your regular bulb. I think youre thinking of the headlights

There's no caps on the fogs

Well.. Sounds like I'm good to go then. I haven't looked at the fogs. Just thought it would be the same as the headlight which had caps. The bulbs I should be getting are H11's right?

Yep, H11. Its really just plug and play. They come with a peel and stick paper so you can put the slim kit anywhere.

^^^ S-Line you just take off the black surrounds, snap off. Non-S-line, you have to take off the bumper.

non s-line.. i thought thats what id have to do but REALLLLYYY didnt wanna go through that. I cut my hands up a few times trying to do it.

non s-line, just take the bumper off and you can place the DDM slim cases anywhere. I have an S-line bumper on mine and I still took off the bumper, its tricky the first time but you get the hang of it.

x2. I used double sided tape and some zip-ties, put one near the homelink and the other somewhere in the top portion of the bumper. No problems :)
Make sure you get the error canceler or solder a capacitor. I had a problem with mine, they would work when key in ignition but car not on and they would flicker when car was on.

Installed the kit today and just came back from a drive. The fogs do not match the headlights. The fogs are more teal-ish. Both are 6000k bulbs. With both headlights and fogs on it is bright as hell. I can see everything. Probably blinding the shit out of everyone but can't do anything about it. Would going down to 5000k help with the color match?

The lower the number the more white the HID will be. If your headlight is more of a whiter color then maybe a 5000k would match. but if your headlight is more blue then maybe try a 7000k.

Yes, until you get to 4300k then you get yellow tint then yellow at 3000K

Anyone have the 5000k kit that can confirm its more of an OEM look?

Boxmods360

I think the OEM is 4300k but I could be wrong. The 4300k is a warm white where as the 5000k is a natural white like daylight. Its a bit whiter than the OEM, but I have 5000k in my fogs and I love them.

Ok this is a stupid question... i have 8000k headlights should i get 8000k to match them or go more with 6000k? idk why i just thought about that but you all have me thinking now...

I would go with 8000k to match. Are these for fogs?

As for color no one once mentioned if the fog kit is the 35W or the 55W and which kit from DDM Tuning is it, all of this will refect the color of the output. I have 5000K 55W (headligh) on my B6 and 35W 5000K (fogs), they match well but there is a difference. Just my 0.02 hope this helps.

That is very true. I have 55w 8000k headlights so I guess the same for fogs will match up with the color of the headlights...

I have 35W 6000k headlights and 35W 6000k DDM slim ballast fogs and they do not match. The fogs are more teal-ish than white.

This is because 6000k has a blue tint to it. pure white is 5000k with the 35W kit.

My headlights are pure white and they are 6000k. I guess I'll just have to try out the 5000k and see if they match up.

If you run HID's in your fogs, does it give you a bulb out warning on the MFD?
