About 2 weeks ago, my radio stopped playing CD's..I was going to go to a local garage I know to see if they can look into this at the end of the week. After driving 1-2 days later I hit a pothole, my radio shut off and wouldn't turn on. About 15 minutes later I smelled as if something was burning, shut the car off went outside and checked the engine to see maybe something is going on there, when I returned to the vehicle it was apparent the odor was being emitted from the radio unit. Yesterday I finally was able to take it the shop. They checked all the fuses, popped out the radio opened it up and found somehow a nickel and quarter inside the radio box. I have no idea how this occurred, I would not be that negligent to enter into the sound system change. Regardless he checked everything and was assured all the wires were fine yet the radio still wont turn on. Now I am stumped, I am out of warranty and have no clue how to progress. I would imagine to go through the dealer at this point would cost much? Should I look into purchasing an after-market radio?
