With Audi's longitudinal V6s and V8s...

Bank 1 = cylinders 1-3 (or 1-4) = engine's left side = car's passenger side
Bank 2 = cylinders 4-6 (or 5-8) = engine's right side = car's driver side

BTW the engine's left and right sides are determined in relation to the front end of the crankshaft and apply even if the engine has been completely removed from the engine bay.

awsome. and V8weight can you tell me how to do this. you said it was a 4 hour job and i was hoping you could give me some insight on how to get started

Ya, but I'm heading to bed right now (it's been a long weekend). Shoot me a pm to remind me, there's not much to it. Luckily bank 2 is the easy side, it's right at the front of the cylinder head.
