View Full Version : did a search, how the hell do you take the hazard switch out

I can find people having the same problem I am having but not a thread on how to take it out.

just pry the trim around the switch and the fog light switches off with a small screw driver, just be carefull. then the switch prys off thesame way.

Remove the trim.
Pull the relay out.
Replace relay.
Glue broken tabs back on trim panel.
Replace trim.

Thanks for the pics..... They made it possible for me to fix the broken turn signal contacts on the hazard relay.

Just an addition, I pried the hazard switch out (after removing the cup holder and fog light switches) by using a knife to press in on the sides of the plastic (where I assumed the metal holders would be) and another knife to pry the switch out straight. I went side to side and it popped out.

Before putting all back together, I completely removed the 2 metal spring strips. The hazard switch fits so tight in my car that the metal pieces aren't needed.... and if I have to replace the switch again, it will come out easily.

btw, the problem was that the contact was actually sticking closed..... I cleaned the single contact as much as possible and it is working fine now. Big thanks for all the posts!
