Hey guys. I'm a new guy here who's looking for a new car.

Unfortunately last week a huge puddle decided to pick a fight with my W124 E320 Coupe and threw it into a concrete barrier so my babys dead and I have to consider a new car.

Depending how much I get back, hopefully I'll have a budget of $10-$13k for another car and I'm considering an 01-02 Audi S8. Other cars I'm looking at, another W124 Coupe, a W124 500E, W140 S500/CL500 Coupe, 03-04 Infiniti M45.

So my W124 Coupe was nothing short of spectacular. I had no issues with the problem spots associated with the W124 (which makes me even more upset cuz I had such a pristine conditioned coupe). I would average anywhere between $500-$1500 a year in maintaining my coupe. I'm very meticulous about my cars.

I also try to do as much work as possible by myself to avoid $100/hr labor costs. I can pretty much do anything short of major component removal (engine, dash, tranny, suspension subframes) and things requiring major tools. I work hard enough to be able to restore a 1975 W116 Mercedes 280S on my own dollar, and get good enough grades to be able to have my parents (appreciatively) honor that and they helped me maintain my W124 E320 Coupe. Can I get by owning an S8 if I was able to keep my W124 in pretty good nick?

I'm looking at S8s for sale in the area and there are a few around me that are in that year range with 70-100k miles on them for as cheap as $10k to as much as $13k.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks guys.

Hello,

I bought 03 S8 few months back with 120k . This is my first Audi and I just love how it handles and puls. It put's a smile on my face every time I drive it. I paid 10k for it but it needed new tires, rims, timing belt, water pump, all fluids.... If you can do maitenance by your self, than S8 is a car for you. Before you buy one try to get or borrow Ross scaner to see all electrical problems with the car. Check the car for leaks... Take your time.
You can't beat the performance/$ ratio.
Good luck with finding one in a good shape.

well as a former A8 and current 500E owner i can tell you that an S8 for that money is the best buy for the $$$ but at the same time maintaing it could cost a bit of $$$
