I'm installing the brake master cylinder on my 2000 A6 4.2. I un-did the 22mm bolts, 2 brake lines, removed the old cylinder, put the new one in, 22mm bolts back on, lines back on, reconnected the vacuum line.
brake pedal will now not move more than 2mm. the rear of the car is already up on jacks for the bleeding process. when I loosened the bleeder screw, fluid just drips out, even while compressing the pedal. the fluid in the reservoir keeps draining, but it's not leaking out of any lines, at least none in the engine bay.
I also found a small line that wasn't connected. it had no fluid discharge inside, so it seems to have been empty for some time. it's a clear line, with a small white elbow on the end. the other end is a 2 inch black hard plastic line. any idea where this goes, or what it's for?
