Hey guys, I have a 2000 a4 1.8tqm and recently had my drivers side axle pop off. I had it replaced/repaired and now there is a weird grinding noise when i am applying the brakes and the car slows to around 10-15 mph. not only does it make a noise but i feel the pedal kind of hang up and wants to come back up until the car gets to 5mph then it all stops causing me to slam the brakes to a stop. I JUST replaced the rotors and pads today hoping thats all it was as I knew I needed to do it anyway and was hoping that was the issue, granted it never happened until the axle popped off.

I know the car needs:

a) Tie Rods

b) control arms

c) an allignment

My question is can any of these be causing this weird grinding issue that I am having? or do you think something could have gotten messed up or installed improperly when the shop put everything back together. Please let me know what you guys think as this is really driving me crazy.

Just looked and there is noticeable toe out on the drivers side. The car also pulls right under hard braking so you think that is the problem?

...is the abs engaging at low speeds? If so, did the replacement axle have the abs notches in the outer end of the axle?

If the above is sorted, a bad alignment can certainly cause this...torn/ripped control arm bushings can do lots of bad things.
