Is TX included in this region, or is there no home for us. We're not really independent, you know.

I was looking for the texas forum too. Not that I live there, but I may in the pretty near future and I need some advice from you tx guys.
Just in general, what is the job situation there? In particular IT jobs but do you know what the average nemployment rate is?
What is the typical climate like in Dallas and Houston?

Both Houston and Dallas have pretty big IT job markets. There is work to be had for sure if you have the right experience. Entry level stuff is really tough right now.
Climate in Dallas is pretty warm and dry, but varies a lot. Houston, being on the coast, is much more humid, and in opinion, miserable :) My wife grew up there, she hates it. I could probably tolerate it, but I prefer dallas.
Austin is pretty big in IT too, and is a pretty hip town. Definitely one of the more liberal cities in the country too, so if that's what you're accustomed to it might work better than a town like Dallas which is much more conservative in general.

Excellent, yeah entry level stuff is pretty hard anywhere, luckily I'm not entry level anymore. I have a copule of leads in dallas that seems promising.
I hear climate wise it's supposed to be pretty similar to Sacramento.
Do you have any generic pictures from dallas and the area around it? It would be nice to see what the landscape looks like.

Isnt Texas the state with the highest unemplyment rate, and well as the state with the most obese people, and the state with the most executions? Sounds like a fun place to be[;)]

We were going to be adding two new "Central" Regional Forums soon. One North and one South (which would obviously include TX).

Lol, I don't see many fat people around, but maybe the number I do see doesn't seem like much to me but is far greater in comparison to other states.. I dunno. hehe
but the climate from october - april is beautiful. right now it's a flat 70 degrees with basically no humidity. Summer time may-sept. it's bloody hot. 90+ high everyday during those months. Quite terrible [:(]. Heat soak on our cars sucks really bad too ehehe
also, don't do anything stupid and you won't be shot. [:D]
