I was driving down the highway today and heard a loud smack. Turns out it was my license plate and euro to american plate holder, whoops. Anyone have ideas on how to mount a new plate and or plate holder. Dealer said the replacement part would be 250 plus painting, any ideas help and there are 2 existing bolts that look like they would/could hold the bottom bolts of a plate.

Front or rear? I was missing the plastic inserts for the license plate screws on the rear. The dealer told me they would need to order the entire panel. That's what their parts catalog shows for those little buggers. The inserts are part of an assembly, not individually serviced. I went to my local hardware store and purchased 4 GM license plate screw inserts for 7 cents a pop. They fit perfectly (one size fits all cars in America). In all fairness to the dealer, they showed me the part catalog screen that proved they weren't just trying to jack me. Still, I'm more than a little surprised that their detail department didn't have a few of these little buggers laying around. I'm pretty positive they buy them from the same hardware store I did. I know they aren't spending $250 per Audi to mount license plates on a car that has lost the inserts. Then again, I could be wrong...

It is the front piece that fits into where a european plate would fit snugly. It is not a small piece its probably about 15 inches with an american size plate holder sitting out front. I think im going to just bolt a new plate onto the bumper where there are to existing bolts.
