So I began putting in my Koni FSDs to replace the OEM sport shocks I'm currently sitting on (with Eibach Pro Kit springs). I got the driver side rear corner done, but sheared off my extension tightening the big bolt, so I'm done for the day. However, I have a couple questions/observations for those who have done this before:

1) How do you get the self-locking nut on??? The OEM shock has a square part on the strut so you can hold it with pliers while you adjust the nut, but the Koni is all round, so I couldn't get a grip on it anywhere, and it just turned as I tried to turn the nut. I ended up putting the OEM nut on instead...

2) At neutral extension, the Koni shock is about 1.5" longer than the OEM sport shock, which kind of surprised me since it's tuned to be used on shorter springs.

1. You use an allen wrench to hold the shaft, while you tighten the nut.

2. KONI FSD's aren't designed for lower springs. They work with them, mostly decently, but they're designed for factory ride height suspensions. They just happen to work with Eibachs mostly. It isn't a combination I recommend at all however.

For that center nut I used a ratchet set that was hollow in the middle so I could stick the Allen wrench down the middle. I got them from sears, in think they were called gear wrench.

you can buy them as a kit (comes in the same box) so i would assume that they are built to work with lower springs.
i like my koni fsd/eibachs a lot....no problems here.
